Hello ambodach and Welcome to WCG !
I had just re-visited this thread a few minutes back. Give me some time while I review all the posts in this thread thus far, and let's see what I can come up with... ; |

Just to get the ball rolling quickly, let's go though it again, quickly, from the top:
WCG-claimed concern: (ambodach) has not returned any research results to our servers. my verification: WCG-claimed concern: confirmed ambodach-claim: My computer is definitely doing something associated with the Grid when I'm not using it. =============================== ok, we need to verify your claim and next try to find out where the disconnect is located... I will essentially echo what CA SekeRob earlier posted in this thread, If CA Sekerob is around, please take the ball anytime. For the moment, please answer the following query as directly as possible and point-for-point, here goes... 1] Do you recall having registered a name other than ambodach? 2] Was the email you received from WCG addressed to the same member name as ambodach? I'll continue reading the earlier posts while awaitin your response to the above partial queries. ; |

1 I have no recollection of doing so but as the BOINC control screen initially showed two tasks, it does look as if I may have done so from this email address.
2 Yes (Am bodach is Gaelic for old man!!) Rob |

Ok then, how about this.
----------------------------------------You are also running the TestforTheory client. That requires the use of Virtualbox software, a virtual machine hypervisor. Given that you have a setting which prevents BOINC from running it's tasks once the system load goes over 50% and the VBox process takes greater than idle priority you are quite possibly seeing over 50% load on the machine at any given time. If you want to run WCG as well try suspending the T4T project (and making sure the VBox virtual machine isn't running) and see if the WCG work runs instead. ![]() Currently being moderated under false pretences |

I was told to disable TfT under the previous instruction and responded that I had all and it didn't appear to make any difference. The VBox could have been the problem then as that was not addressed.
Currently I have no WCG software on the machine. |

VBox itself will not cause the issue unless it is actually running and has a guest running as well.
----------------------------------------Another possibility is that you had your preferences set to not run the BOINC client while the computer is in use and you have the computer set to hibernate in the power management settings. In that case you would only get a few minutes crunching in before the machine closes down. I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt here but I need you work with me. Make sure you answer my questions point for point quoting the exact errors and any/all effects anything I suggest may have. Blanket statements like "I tried all that and it didn't work" provide no information as to WHY things didn't work and make fault-finding the system substantially harder. ![]() Currently being moderated under false pretences |

Dark Angel, you are doing a splendid job! Perhaps so good a job that CA SekeRob may have wisely opted to let you handle the situation. Good for him SekeRob, maybe not as good for you, Dark Angel !
Seriously now, I have some observations which the WCG staff may have to clarify first before proceeding further: 1] Is Pentium4 2.8GHz and XP still supported in WCG? Coupled with a 2GB RAM physical and loaded with a virtual machine -- does not make for a robust crunching set-up, I'd think. 2] Resource share for TestForTheory and WCG -- each at 100%. Is this correct? Looks like an error to me. 3] ambodach preferences is indicated as last modified 01-Jan-1970 00:00:01. Interesting here is that 00:00:01 time. How likely will a human user hit that time spot? And year 1970? Was WCG operational at that time? 4] Another cruncher, barherz, indicated "I got an e-mail , the same one as him, but my computer is working on the grid, so really I don“t know what might be wrong.", when as petehardy indicated, and which I confirmed, that "Neither ambodach nor barherz have contributed any results to WCG(or any other project that I can find) on those usernames". barherz post count: 1. 5] petehardy also indicated "There is an account Rob here. Is that you?" So why isn't SekeRob pitching in? Because there is already a Rob ? Intriguing case here... ; |

andzgrid, Unix reference for computing dates is the 1st second of 1970. Seeing a profile change date of the first day of 1970 or last day of 1969 [depending on time zone the poster is in] merely means it was never changed. Unless it's stated something is not supported it is. Below a certain threshold and participation number you'd not see any help making a stretch to find a solution. P4 on XP is a long way from that point FAICR different statistics.
Else, DA is hitting nails ... too many [well intended] helpers just confuse the heck ... stepping through by one experienced person is the preferred mode here. --//-- |

Look guys - as said three into one doesn't really go !!
How about someone giving me the link to re-load the software and me try again. You're now not going to get anything from me in terms of diagnosis as I ditched all the software AND had to clean the registry. Rob |
