I don't know where to post this in the forum

I got an email today from the Grid saying this

"Our records reflect that you registered on November 22, 2011, but as of today your computer has not returned any research results to our servers."

My computer is definitely doing something associated with the Grid when I'm not using it, as there's a flash screen that pops up when it's changing over. Further the screen doesn't go into sleep mode and I've taken to switching it off.

Can someone post this to where it can be answered please.

Rob

Re: I don't know where to post this in the forum

Hi Rob,

Is the mail addressed to the same member name as which you're posting now? If you navigate as ambodach to My Grid > Result Status, does it show your current tasks? Reason I'm asking is that some members run with 2 registrations and the client registered to one and the "reminder" message going to the other.

Re: I don't know where to post this in the forum

Sorry guys - you're going to have to hold my hand on this if you want me to remain on board as I haven't a clue what anyone is talking about. I like to think of myself as being reasonably computer literate, but this is all away above my level.

All I'm observing is something happens when I leave the pc, and that the monitor doesn't go into sleep mode now. So where do I go from there.

Re: I don't know where to post this in the forum

Open the BOINC manager, switch to advanced view, select Tasks tab and look if there any tasks in progress. If there are, that's positive. If they've been running for weeks that's negative.

After, select the Projects tab. There's WCG listed we hope. On that line there's an account name. Is it same as ambodach?

Then, select the WCG line and hit the update button. Then visit the message log tab and copy all to a next reply and tell us what happened.

--//--

P.S. The [public] information we have from the member comparison page [Jean Pierre. posted link] is, that your client has yet to return a single result under ambodach. If it is working successfully, it will be under a different member name. Surely you'd remember you've done another registration if you had.

Re: I don't know where to post this in the forum

Well as far as I can see nothing happened when I did the Update. What the log does seem to be saying is that there is an incorrect URL somewhere.

WCG is showing "ambodach" as account, but there's another entry in the Projects tab showing "Test4Theory@home" against Account "Rob". I think you may be right about a previous registration as I scrapped it all once before because it wouldn't work - and am heading in the same direction again.

Here's the log for today - I take it that these logs are daily only

Re: I don't know where to post this in the forum

OK, that's something. [putting my nice boss cap on] Please, follow this step by step, else we'll be stuck in long back and forth:

In the BOINC Manager [BM]:

1. Go to the Project Tab and select T4T and hit suspend button on left.
2. Confirm that on the WCG line there is no Work Done value, just zero.
3. Select WCG line and confirm that on left a button says "No new tasks". If that shows, leave it, else hit "Allow new tasks".
4. Select WCG and hit Reset
5. In the Activity Menu up top select "Run Always" (for the moment). For Network same "always available"

Theoretically the client should go out and fetch work or tell in the message log why it is not fetching any. If work was fetched, go to the website My Grid and Result Status page. There new assigned work is listed if the same account is assigned to your client.

I don't like the VirtualBox location of the data-directory. A VB is only needed for running T4T. If that E:\Virtualbox\BOINC is a permanent location we're though fine.

Let us know what's happening.

--//--

P.S. The task you had of DSFL had long expired suggesting that the client was not really running or running enough hours in a day, so the task expired and was nullified. If BOINC runs, the Task Manager (hold Ctrl-Shift-Esc button to open] should show a program such as boinc.exe in the process tab (you need to be admin to see a service but your install is just user level "Robert", meaning that if you log out, the client stops, which may explain the lack of any material progress)

edit: some punctuation.

Re: I don't know where to post this in the forum

P.S. Once things are working, we'll address a few other things such as "14/12/2011 08:00:11 don't compute while active". Means if you are at the computer work stops, then when you log out, the client is unloaded as per your installation setup.
