Yesterday, I went to Nyboder - a collection of homes
built by Denmark's most colourful King, Christian IV, as housing for the naval personnel and shipbuilders in Copenhagen. ![]() Nyboders pris One of the dwellings is furnished to show how people are thought to have lived there some 350 years ago. Trust me to keep a team thread afloat with touristy stuff if everything else fails |

Dear Members,
As mentioned previously, we expect all members to adhere to the forum rules. In the past few days a couple of members have violated the forum rules. We have removed that content from view. Due to the technical limitations of the forum software, some posts that did not violate the rules were also removed from view and we apologize for posts that have been removed that did not violate any rules. We have contacted individuals via email that violated the forum rules and have advised them to stop. We do not wish to ban members from our forums, but if members continue to disrupt the forums and denigrate other team members we will take action. Please remember that everyone’s computing power is being utilized by the research scientists to accelerate answers to critical humanitarian issues and we sincerely thank everyone for donating their unused computer cycles! I could have a field day shooting that in the right light up close and with wide angle lenses. |

Yesterday, I went to Nyboder - a collection of homes built by Denmark's most colourful King, Christian IV, as housing for the naval personnel and shipbuilders in Copenhagen. I saw on TV the other day that there is another place in Denmark that has a collection of 300-400 old buildings gathered from across the country and moved to a giant outdoor "museum of buildings". It looks like they have hosts dressed in clothing to reflect the date and location of those buildings, and include demonstrations of such things as glass-blowing and other crafts. Have you been there? ![]() |

Have you been there? You're right, Punchy, and you were attentive. It's called "The Old Town" and is in Aarhus, Denmark's second largest city. I went there a couple of years ago in December, and many of the houses had a Christmas Display from a certain era. Here is a link to Google Picture Search with many, many references. I vividly remember when then tore down a three-story house in my town piece by piece and rebuilt it at this place, and it was with no small nostalgia I climbed the outside stairs of that particular house .... It is now the Toy Museum of The Old Town. They replaced it with this: All the houses are from market towns and represent dwellings, shops and stores of people and trades that were typical of these market towns. We have a couple of other outdoor museums dealing with farm buildings collected from all over the country on the same principle. Viper97, once you said you'll probably be working for as long as you lived - you couldn't think of what else to do Well, you just did It's a huge area ![]() - the streets are named "Wild Goose Street", "Crocodile Street", "Bear Street" and such ... You could pack that photo equipment and yourself and shoot all of Copenhagen and the countryside, too |
