For those who are interested in fighting cancer with their DC resources, an excerpt from an interesting guest post from Dr. Kasson on Dr. Pande's blog, describing the relationship between influenza research and cancer: "influenza is an important model system for understanding other viruses such as HIV and cancer-causing viruses such as HPV, Heptatitis C virus, and Epstein-Barr virus. It may come as a surprise, but many cancers are virus-associated, and these form an important area for prevention."

That does not look to be a WCG relevant post. I think it could be a good post if one can believe anything coming out of Pande Group and Folding at Home lately. I particularly do not, but I'll simply make my opinion known and invite all to investigate for themselves. I believe there is much more credible cancer related science happenning elsewhere in Boinc projects that can actually be creditted to our Team however. Sounds like farming for another team to me. That's just my only problem with the post. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jun 9, 2012 11:13:53 PM] |

Cancers do behave and propagate similar to a virus. That has been well known for decades. And as stated there are virus' that do cause cancer. So how is that not relavant? ![]() |

That's just my only problem with the post. It was intended to inform folks who may have left Folding@Home due to the apparent lack of cancer-related research. It even shows that Afterburner's statement regarding F@H fighting cancer was correct. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Punchy at Jun 10, 2012 2:01:58 PM] |

Honesty is no longer any sort of policy :( Since when is reading some potential new findings in any type of scientific reasearch doing something to be ridiculed or scorned? Get off his back. And how does your statement about honesty make any sense at all in relation to him being interested in reading some potentially new research findings? ![]() |
