@nanoprobe,
----------------------------------------electric aren't 'green' well they are a lot greener than fossil fuels, and since i bought it it is getting greener as the grid gets greener and when I have completed my solar, and just charge by that it will be EMMISSIONS FREE COMPLETELY. (yes tires alone take 10 gallons of oil to make, but I'm not going back to the horse) @jackielan2000 If your talking about me, they are my panels, not a lease we are buying and putting them on OUR townhome. We live in a windy area, but I assure you the wind does NOT blow all the time. If I lived out in the country, I would put up a couple though. ![]() |

So first full day Jun 2nd. 31.6 KW produced.
----------------------------------------That first day nothing pulled from the grid, over night 2kw pulled (computers running etc.) I think of those 31 kw, 24 exported to the grid. Next day much cloudier but still made 24 kw. Sadly I plugged in the Tesla, and in an hour sucked down 16 KW. I'll have to plug in the 110 outlet, charging at 6 km an hour lol, luckily not travelling hardly anywhere these days so that's not a problem. Still even doing that, had sent more to the grid than have drawn. This is only a 4KW system remember pretty small, still I expect to save $100 a month in best summer months and less and less the farther from June we go. These are more efficient panels (340 watt vs my old 250 watt ones). I had 24 of those for a 6KW system. Somehow i remember june being around 30 to 40 kw a day.... yet this 4kw system did 31 yesterday and it was cloudy at times. strange, but happy about it. ![]() |

Perhaps you should add wind to augment your solar? It could still be charging at night.

Perhaps you should add wind to augment your solar? It could still be charging at night. I don't know the regs around here, did go to a renewable conference that was looking at what ways we could move in my town (28,000) and wind didn't really fit the bill. Schools wanted to do it, but apparently a very few people have epileptic issues with windmills. I dunno, but i think a battery backup to use day generated power at night would be more reasonable in town at least. EDIT: Uhm reasonable in the same breath as batteries was a bad choice, as I was quoted $16,000 for a powerwall installed (Canadian). That is insane, my solar system was $14,000. Waiting for battery day to find out what's going on. Sorry just assumed everyone knew what that was lol, Tesla will be giving a presentation on all things battery. Lots of us fanboys are hoping we can plug the tesla into the house and it will charge or power the house during an outage. I would pay a few thousand for that. but like $5000 would be my max, our power is quite stable. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Jack007 at Jun 10, 2020 1:34:57 PM] |

So a week in,
----------------------------------------9 and a half days actually, 172kw produced, a couple days ago, 75kw from the grid, 75kw exported to the grid, with the rest being used during the night, or cooking. We should prob make the main meal lunch/dinner and eat a salad for supper. Healthier and less draw from the grid. It has been fairly rainy and cloudy some days, a high of 31.8 kw produced a low of 9. Today is supposed to be sunny, might set a new record today. Plus days getting longer til the 21st or so. ![]() |

Ok, sorry it took this long to get a bill that made sense. (not a mix of both worlds).
----------------------------------------My power bill in April was $140 pre solar, my power bill for Jun was $48 July, not sure as we started using a portable air conditioner. Battery Day Sep 22nd. ![]() |
