Sent: 13 September 2011 19:50 To: guitarman@backbeat.org.uk Subject: Prayers needed urgently Hi John Been a long time... hope you are well. I am sick - desperately so. I have been very poorly for most of this year, with several emergency hospital admissions. They finally got around to doing a CT scan on 1st September, and I got a call from my GP next day. Saw the surgeon today... I have a massive pancreatic tumour, which the surgeon believes is inoperable. I am not ready to leave my helpless autistic son all alone in the world, so I am soliciting prayers. The cancer team is meeting tomorrow to discuss what, if anything, can be done. I have lost all the email addresses of our UD/FAD friends as my old PC died (only have yours because you kindly included me in your "new email addy" notification list)... wondered if you could please pass the word round? God bless Maggi xoxox I have added your name to my ever-growing list of people in need of prayers. John crunching, crunching, crunching. AMD Ryzen 5 2600 6-core Processor with Windows 11 64 Pro. In what country is Maggie residing?
----------------------------------------Has she gotten a second opinion? Has anyone looked into foundations that assist pancreatic cancer patients? Has Maggie looked into clinical trials that she may qualify for? For example: http://www.pancreaticcancer.org.uk/informatio...perable-pancreatic-cancer Does Maggie have family or friends near her? Will someone please keep this thread updated so that we know how Maggie and her son are doing? Thank you!

Will someone please keep this thread updated so that we know how Maggie and her son are doing? Thank you! Maggie is in the UK. I got this e-mail from her on the 20th. Sorry for leaving it for so long before posting Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes. My surgeon has scheduled a CT guided biopsy for Thursday 29th September in order to identify the cell type so they can determine the best chemo drugs to give me. Following my meeting with the surgeon, I now have more information, and copies of the scan report etc. The tumour is a massive beast, and encases the portal vein, so surgery is not going to be an option, even if the chemo does manage to shrink it. They are looking into what clinical trials are available for which I might be a suitable candidate. I also have a contact who works for one of the major pharmaceutical companies: he is going to review my biopsy results to check I am getting the best possible care. I am meeting my newly-appointed MacMillan nurse tomorrow. Hopefully she will be able to help me sort out a few practicalities. Your prayers are helping tremendously. Over the last couple of days, I have been able to eat and keep down a little solid food for the first time in weeks (a sliver of melba toast with a teaspoon of cottage cheese, a small banana, even a small avocado with a few prawns). I am also sleeping better. Tom is taking it very badly, but doing his best to be strong and helpful. Please continue to pray for us. Much love |

Update on Maggie recieved today
Thanks, John. The site that link refers to has proven very useful... it was one of the first ones I found when I got the bad news. I had a long talk with the cancer liaison nurse yesterday, and it was not encouraging... it seems that six months was a rather optimistic forecast... it has been suggested that I need to set my affairs in order without further delay. I will take whatever clinical trial is best suited... I need a miracle. My biopsy is scheduled for 9.30 am tomorrow (Thursday 29th). Please pray that I come through it without any complications or adverse effects, and that the sample provides the data they need to prescribe suitable treatment. Tom is almost hysterical at the thought of my going into hospital, as he is terrified I will not come home again. Please pray for his peace of mind. |
