Re: "The survivors"

Suspended network activity to reduce the number of error messages filling the event logs.

The survivors are ranked 207 on WCG, which is really good for 7 of 9 team members active.
One team member is intermittent and one has stopped contributing.
This is not for everyone because the results are just a bunch of statistics that for some may seem intangible.
However, as a cancer survivor this is the most important thing I do on my PCs and everything else is questionable.

Back to business, I hope that there is no loss of WUs due to this performance fix.
Possibly they underestimated the amount of load that HCC GPU would produce; but now they know it is significant.

Re: "The survivors"

My Internet access, telephone. and TV were down for most of yesterday.
AT&T U-verse was out in 12-15 states with some subscribers out 2-3 days.
D#&% phone company has become one of my most popular phrases.
When I worked for the phone company it was difficult to see why people were angry.
As a customer it is very obvious--they don't know what they are doing and tech support is anything but an extended phone call ending in India with no solution.
I am going to start a blog to tell the world the solution to their email "Invalid Network Password" problem.
AT&T tech support has no idea what the problem is so they send customers to a pay support service that is also clueless.
The result is a lot of angry customers that continue to have the problem.
When we switched from AT&T land line to AT&T U-verse telephone service; keeping our old phone number was a nightmare that took days to resolve.
Thanks Justice Department for breaking up a company that worked and giving us one that does not.

Re: "The survivors"

Remember, it was all done in the name of progress, or was it in the name of socialism? Fight the big corrupt "Ma Bell" who is constantly stealing our money. Break up that big bad monopoly, make everything equal.

The Progressives have succeeded amazing well, everything is now equally all screwed up. Enjoy... the best is still yet to come, but it is coming and coming very quickly.

Re: "The survivors"

I have a Toshiba laptop that keeps reminding me to update the BIOS.
Knowing that if the BIOS update fails the laptop will become a doorstop--has kept me from updating.

My only computer problems are that my wife keeps asking me:
Why doesn't this happen when I push that button?
Why did I get that warning message, I wasn't doing anything?
Why won't my computer work?
An email disappeared, where did it go?
Anyone know Leo Laporte's phone number so I can refer her to someone that can answer her questions?

Re: "The survivors"

My SNURK signature has left the building; again.
Can't change it to something temporary because I get an error.
I am expecting a Sapphire globe soon so this is perfect timing.

little mermaid, there is more to the story.
My sister-in-law was using my wife's computer.
She said that there was a message on the screen that contained the word "security" and it is not there now; she asked "what was it?"
I rest my case as unanswerable questions are a widespread problem beyond the scope of this forum.

Re: "The survivors"

Getting some FAAH BETA 64-bit WUs.
They run fine on the i7-2700k but error out on the AMD Quad cores.

Re: "The survivors"

I have a friend that gives a "stumble upon" URL to anyone that asks him a question that there is obviously no answer to (because not enough information was provided). Since the URL is completely un-related to the question, it is a perfect response to the question that cannot be answered tongue
