My new SSD showed up today. Since the old drive is still under warranty, I am going to just run it until it fails at this point. When it does, I'll put in the new drive, re-load the OS, and then get an RA for the old drive and get a replacement (which I'll keep as a backup drive for when the new one fails). This way I won't be down for a week waiting for a replacement drive to show up.

My SSD is 64GB and the price is about $75, which is quite reasonable for a 2.5" drive.
----------------------------------------The other thing to do to get the most from a PC is to increase the RAM. Prices for memory are cheap but some of the higher capacity sticks can be expensive.

I should hit 20 year of run time today. Almost 14 of those years are since I joined the survivors a year ago, since I got my good crunching box right after I joined

gretchch,
----------------------------------------Congratulations, you got your 20 years and are close to getting an Emerald globe. About a year ago I was the team as the captain stopped contributing and was unreachable. It is good to have some company. I sincerely appreciate you and the other members that have joined the team. In all of WCG we are #332 in run time and #242 in points. Thanks very much for your contribution.

Ended up with 30 BETAs which is not a lot of total run time as each was 0.05 (about 3 minutes).
----------------------------------------If you click the mail icon at the bottom of my signature it will open an email with my cancer_survivor email address in the To: field. The account is just for WCG so give it a try if you like. [Edit] You must be logged in to see the icon. Received an email from AT&T/Yahoo that this account had been changed and was being sent to an account starting with "coo...........". I did NOT make any changes. So, changed my password. Nothing worse than a scumbag hacking into your email account. Don't they have anything better to do?????

The number of projects is now 8 available and 2 intermittent.
----------------------------------------Available Projects Computing for Sustainable Water (Completed) Say No to Schistosoma GO Fight Against Malaria Drug Search for Leishmaniasis The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy - Phase 2 (Completed) Help Fight Childhood Cancer Help Conquer Cancer Human Proteome Folding - Phase 2 FightAIDS@Home Intermittent Projects Computing for Clean Water Discovering Dengue Drugs - Together - Phase 2 We can expect HCC GPU to start soon but have not heard anything firm regarding a date. Don't know if the GPU project will wipe out the remaining HCC CPU work as happened with the accelerated CPU projects. Just to be safe I am running all of the HCC (and HFCC) work I can.
