Did you identify the cause of the boot problem?
Put in a new WD hard drive - Windows wouldn't install because it seems the DVD drive has gone flaky, so i downloaded WIN7 w/ SP1 (there's a great article about this here): http://www.pcmech.com/article/can-you-downloa...you-have-a-legal-license/ and installed via a USB key Microsoft has a tool for making a USB key bootable here: http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/h....Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool everything is back to normal ![]() |

Very interesting.
----------------------------------------Of course, when you speak of "normal" that has a special meaning when referring to Microsoft. The DVD drive is probably the cheapest component to replace but that is small consolation. I had some problems a while back with file corruption. I decided I would rather go to the dentist than do a Windows repair or clean install. So I went to the dentist but my computer was still broke. Doing repair and clean installs is not fun. And then there are the endless updates.

Picked up 9 Betas for CFSW.
----------------------------------------They can't be very big as the estimated time on an i7 is 00:33:23. But then an AMD Phenom X4 830 shows an estimated time of 06:40:16.

The actual CPU time on the CFSW Betas was
----------------------------------------0.65-0.68 hours on the i7 0.78 hours for the Phenom II X4 830. The estimated time for the AMD was off by about 6 hours. I have learned not to trust the BOINC Manager Remaining (Estimated) times because they are often inaccurate.

I got one on my i7, ran in .7 hours. I got 2 on my slow 2GHz Intel laptop, and they ran in around 1.3 hours. Don't even know what the estimates were because they came and went before I even noticed them.
