The current number of targets is 5353 and there are 58 batches per a target (0-57). The number of work units in a batch can vary, but will likely be around 1000. That is, taking each WU lasts 6 hours, 5353*58*1000*6*2 (quorum) = 3725688000 hours = 425015 CPU years. Adding 6% on errors and timeouts, we get ~450515 CPU years, which is 450515/345 = 1305 WCG-days on full-speed if there was only 1 project EDIT: wu time is 6 hours, not 1 hour ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by rilian at Aug 31, 2011 8:49:08 PM] |

rilian,
Your calculations are a bit off...according to your estimate workunits only last 1 hour each. When in fact they should average close to 6 hours each. Thanks, -Uplinger |

nanoprobe, what's the deadline on these? September 10th And FWIW it's happening on 3 different crunchers. Now it gets even stranger. One cruncher stopped 6 Leishmaniasis WUs that had been running for a total of 4 hours and started 6 new ones. All with the Sept. 10th due date.
In 1969 I took an oath to defend and protect the U S Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and Domestic. There was no expiration date.

Just an FYI for Uplinger....
----------------------------------------I recall on the launch of some previous projects that sometimes the script for "automatically opt me into new projects" didn't always work for some members. I was one whom it never worked for previously. This time around, it appears to have worked perfectly as all of my profiles correctly added the project. Good job :)

I don't have "All Projects" checked. Look at the box below the choices for what I was referring to.

I have 2 now - 1 next to start and the hcc project running now is less than an hour to go. Both estimate 9 hours to run. My computer can run 4 wu's at a time.

Man, I passed all day in meetings, and now I find there's a new project and this thread is already 50-posts long.
