RT, none of the things you described has happened. I do not appear to have a situation where my password was exposed or used by someone else. This improper use of my email has occurred only once to my knowledge, so I will just ignore it for now but keep my eye out for any of the things you mentioned. Thanks It's very simple to spoof email addresses. Chances are good, that is what happened. DKT - it may not even have been your id that was the initiator. It may have been someone you sent an email to and the spammer grabbed a list of address from that, which was used to spoof your email address and provide a list of SPAM victims. As has been mentioned several times, its easy to spoof email addresses with the right software and ISPs don't take simple steps to make it more difficult. There are reasons why email accounts are hacked and it isn't necessarily the hacked account that gets victimized other than some data theft (maybe nothing more than their address book). - D You don't even need special software. If you use Outlook, or Eudora (spelling), or just about any email client (that's not web based), it allows you to type in a return email address. Lists of email addresses are available for cheap as a lot of retailers sell them (or used to, anyway). Don't think I'm a spammer, but email is a very simple system designed back in the days when people were honest and we didn't need to worry about people abusing the system. This is one of the things that IPv6 will help to fix, BTW.

Good morning MOT,
The people from Sungevity are scheduled to arrive after 8:30 to install the solar panels for electricity to reduce my PG&E bill. I will be able to report on its effectiveness in the next 2 months although I should continue to report monthly to see how it operates throughout the year (short days and rainy days). |

I think what he was saying that regardless of your email address, someone with outlook or outlook express could plug your email address in as their email return address and send it off as if it came from you. That is done a lot. Regards. |
