i'm heaving lots of isues on Mylkway. Looks like you are having lots of problems with the keyboard too ;PMove from .26 to 6.12.33 I wonder how many FAQ's will have to be changed because of the renaming of Boinc menus? Then there are all those posts helping people that will be hit upon for years to come. You know, open BM in Adv View, Advanced, Preferences... Oh, but it's not there. I'll just start a new thread... |

Yeah, that quirk. Another one, open the event log*, then open the properties of a task, now try to look in the event log again... and yes, really stupid rename, now too close to Windows event logs, opened with Windows event viewer. It was also relocated in the drop down menu, and the Tasks sub-categories (Project, Progress, Status, Elapsed...) were rearranged... Sort of like opening the door to find someone else tidied up your tool-shed. Forgive the thread necropsy, but I didn't want to start a new one on an old issue. I just today did my first trial of a 6.12.xx and I have to say, I will NOT use that on any computer ever again. I'm fine with the concept that they wish to upgrade the interface and make it easier for the "average" user, but after spending a couple hours on the BOINC forum pages and seeing any attempt at suggestions for optional message tabs met with literal abuse from a forum moderator, it makes me happy to participate here at WGC where the CAs actually care and are pleasant. It's a guarantee that I will not return to the BOINC forums for years if ever with the abusive attitudes of the moderators and defensive responses to constructive suggestions. Additionally, if WCG adopts the 6.12.xx interface as official, I will simply refuse to use it unless they have integrated some serious changes to the current layout. Anyway, just had to get that rant out of my system. It takes quite a bit to get me riled, but when in the course of a single thread two or three posters swear to leave their fora due to abuse by a moderator, that's over the top. I'm not opposed to change and I could adapt to the newer interface look if I had to, but their current approach is surely going to alienate far more experienced crunchers than it will retain casual users. After all, that's why there is a simplified view and an advanced view. ![]() Distributed computing volunteer since September 27, 2000 |

WCG is not going to adopt 6.12, but if you must, you can get it over at the Berkeley download site. Get 6.12.35 if available for your platform.
There will be new projects. Some are even known from official news releases. --//-- |
