Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

The quotes of others say it best smile

€œlove is blind
and lovers cannot see
the pretty follies
that themselves commit

-Shakespeare

Love has features which pierce all hearts, he wears a
bandage which conceals the faults of those beloved.
He has wings, he comes quickly and flies away the same.

-Voltaire

.....in conclusion.....

Half of what I say is meaningless; but I say it so that the
other half may reach you.

- Kahlil Gibran

Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

love is a spring at which
crazy they drink who've climbed
steeper than hopes are fears
only not ever named
mountains more if than each
known allness disappears

lovers are mindless they
higher than fears are hopes
lovers are those who kneel
lovers are these whose lips
smash unimagined sky
deeper than heaven is hell

e.e. (again)

If I said this week I am smarting
I'd be a liar

Deliberation

One part kindness, two parts truth
Shake or stir - add vermouth
Maraschino, one part twist
Cherry topped, lemon kissed

Slowly sip cocktail of love
Chemistry undreamed of
Served straight up or on the rocks
Fate becomes the jury box

Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

As I drove into the car park of the 24 hour Superstore tonight on one of those my brain is wide awake trips

There it was on the radio

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVi4PUx8bXk

I sat and listened in the dark, engine switched off.

That's the place to listen to this - on your tod, in the dark near midnight, in a pretty desolate ASDA (owned by Walmart) car park.

Getting home I have stumbled onto this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zInM4k9VERU

before you ask - yes I know

Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

Nothing wrong with being
a "romantic" ... some of the best folks are wink
There's only one movie that I've watched over and over again
- totally addicted - I confess, "Dirty Dancing"

(good stumbling, Dave)

Catch the Wind - Love the lyrics!

In the chilly hours and minutes
Of uncertainty
I want to be
In the warm hold of your loving mind.

To feel you all around me
And to take your hand
Along the sand
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.

When sundown pales the sky
I want to hide a while
Behind your smile
And everywhere I'd look, your eyes I'd find.

For me to love you now
Would be the sweetest thing,
T'would make me sing
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.

When rain has hung the leaves with tears
I want you near
To kill my fears
To help me to leave all my blues behind.

Standing in your heart
Is where I want to be
And long to be,
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.
I may as well try and catch the wind.

Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

If you want to be haunted at night, when you can't sleep, try this one.

Oh, my love, my darling
I've hungered for your touch
A long, lonely time
And time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine?

I need you love, I need your love
God speed your love to me
Lonely rivers flows to the sea, to the sea
To the open arms of the sea

Lonely rivers sigh, wait for me, wait for me
I'll be coming home, wait for me

Oh, my love, my darling
I've hungered for your touch
A long, lonely time
And time goes by so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine?

I need you love, I need your love
God speed your love to me
"Unchained Melody"

Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

Neil, many years ago, I was fortunate enough
to have that song sung to me by a rather famous
singer - from the back seat of a car. We were
taking him to a performance and I was more
than thrilled to share that experience.
Thanks for the wonderful memory :)

Remember this one?

First the tide rushes in
Plants a kiss on the shore
Then rolls out to sea
And the sea is very still once more

So I rush to your side
Like the oncoming tide
With one burning thought
Will your arms open wide

At last we're face to face
And as we kiss through an embrace
I can tell, I can feel
You are love, you are real
Really mine

In the rain, in the dark, in the sun

Like the tide at its ebb
I'm at peace in the web
Of your arms

"Ebb Tide"

Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

And yet another change of pace.

UPID and my Campaspe play'd
At cards for kisses--Cupid paid:
He stakes his quiver, bow, and arrows,
His mother's doves, and team of sparrows;
Loses them too; then down he throws
The coral of his lips, the rose
Growing on's cheek (but none knows how);
With these, the crystal of his brow,
And then the dimple of his chin:
All these did my Campaspe win.
At last he set her both his eyes--
She won, and Cupid blind did rise.
O Love! has she done this for thee?
What shall, alas! become of me?

Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

How many doors?
That have just closed behind me
am I going to have to stand there
and explain to
My God
how
beautiful
you
are ?

Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

Centrifuge

A thought perhaps to flutter by
Or so it seemed to be
Never settling down to rest
On possibility

Tomorrow is like yesterday
Which makes it all unreal
And though you're here besides me
Can my mind your presence feel

Chameleon-like a change of mood
What alien force erupts
A cloud is cast upon the scene
Confusion interrupts

What lies beneath the static shell
Waiting to break free
And reaching out a lonely voice -
I'm here inside of me
