Added pic clarifies prose and interpretation smile

So then, where are all the rest of you guys hiding?

Open invitation to all readers - would love to hear from you.
Why not share a favorite poem or perhaps one that touched you
at a particular time of life. Like music or art - a pleasure to the senses.
It's true that poetry can get lost in translation but that's
what makes it unique. Each one can read into it what their
emotions dictate.

The Quiet World
By Jeffrey McDaniel

In an effort to get people to look
into each other’s eyes more,
and also to appease the mutes,
the government has decided
to allot each person exactly one hundred
and sixty-seven words, per day.

When the phone rings, I put it to my ear
without saying hello. In the restaurant
I point at chicken noodle soup.
I am adjusting well to the new way.

Late at night, I call my long distance lover,
proudly say I only used fifty-nine today.
I saved the rest for you.

When she doesn’t respond,
I know she’s used up all her words,
so I slowly whisper I love you
thirty-two and a third times.
After that, we just sit on the line
and listen to each other breathe.

Ok, here's how I discovered Edgar Allan Poe's classic "The Raven" it was thanks to this episode of the Simpsons .Of course it is abridged, and nowhere near as complete as Sir Christophers recital which is hair tingling! biggrin

Tonight over Yorkshire

(from the standard kit lens ! 1:1)

I'm endlessly fascinated by it

A stillness
A constant but temporarily missed presence
Hope in it's brightness in the dark
It sits above earthly troubles
It just makes me want to smile
+ with it's distance another global thing we can all share in today

I took it about 8pm BST just before the ISS traced across my bit of Sky at 20:10 - 20:12

Sometimes you have look upwards for a while

Night

LITTLE WING

Well, she's walking through the clouds,
With a circus mind that's running wild,
Butterflies and Zebras,
And Moonbeams and fairy tales.
That's all she ever thinks about.
Riding with the wind.

When I'm sad, she comes to me,
With a thousand smiles she gives to me free.
It's alright, she says it's alright,
Take anything you want from me,
Anything.
Fly on little wing.

Re: Poetry - just poetry ....

"Wildflower"

Quiet hour
You have always been my wildflower
Showing up wherever beauty's lost its way
Your heart must break

I was free
Until I heard the song you sang me to me
Pulling me away from everything I knew
To be with you

And everything I know just fades away
And every time you go it hurts me so
I don't know why when I know we're free
Free to fly

Here we are
Burning faster than the closest star
Falling back down to the Earth
I love you so it sometimes hurts

Closer still
You will find me standing on the hill
Waiting for you with my arms stretched open wide
Now, come inside

And everything I know just fades away
And every time you go it hurts me so
I don't know why when I know we're free
Free to fly

And everything I know just fades away
And when a wildflower grows it picks its space
And that's the way it is when nature plays its lovely hand
We'll understand everything

Everything
