Yep that's about the size of it.

500 days of Summer......A keeper Haven't seen that one, Dave but sounds interesting. I believe we all have films that are meaningful to us as are the poems that touch a core within. IMHO - To push beyond the testing point takes courage and perseverance but the direction has purpose. Sometimes it works out well. Failure isn't fatal, you know - although it might feel like it at the time If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain; If I can ease one life the aching, Or cool one pain, Or help one fainting robin Unto his nest again, I shall not live in vain. - Emily Dickinson |

Hanneke Beaumont 3D Poetry in Bronze A picture is worth a thousand words. Yet having said that, I feel compelled to expound on this further. Stepping Forward literally jolts the senses bringing clarity to the expression out on a limb. Take a risk into the unknown. Beaumont's keen insight and perceptive analysis of the human condition strongly affected me. A brilliant understanding of life's complexities and survival. The pervading sense of loneliness, uncertainty and longing amazingly comes to life within her emotionally charged sculptures. Just wonderful! ![]() |

They are
----------------------------------------There are a number of the figures in Brussels Airport as well I wrote to her explaining Stepping Forward's impact on me. I had to. I met it, as it is a meeting, in the first week of the rest of my life having bought a single ticket to Brussels the previous weekend, not the usual return. It could only have been done with the strength of the bronze cast (also a message in itself) but the lightness of that faithful step into the unknown has to be seen. I bought that ticket 20th September 2009. The isolation afforded by being surrounded by foreign tongue's for the first year was a huge blessing. I'm reminded I need to keep walking (upright helps) But we all need to keep stepping forwards. If not we cease to exist Dave ![]() |

Some worthwhile quotes.
----------------------------------------Johann Wolfgang von Goethe wrote: I call architecture frozen music. (like that one!) Trust your hunches. They're usually based on facts filed away just below the conscious level. -Joyce Brothers I once got this in a fortune cookie: Confuscious said - He who stands on hilltop not on level ![]() Staying on an emotional level... ... Never lose hope - Tower of Pisa is going straight ![]() Poetry brings out different levels of emotion. Individual experiences are projected into the artist's meaning and we react accordingly. That to me, is what makes reading poetry so personal - more so, in putting pen to paper yourself. This thread is meant as an oasis - So, readers out there... What are you waiting for? Welcome to all! ![]() |

Art is a channel that transmits clearly :)
----------------------------------------Many artists sang "My Way" but the poignant message remains the same. English lyrics by Paul Anka - music based on French song "Comme d'habitude". The words are wonderful, don't you agree? And now, the end is near; And so I face the final curtain. My friend, I'll say it clear, I'll state my case, of which I'm certain. I've lived a life that's full. I've traveled each and ev'ry highway; But more, much more than this, I did it my way. Regrets, I've had a few; But then again, too few to mention. I did what I had to do And saw it through without exemption. I planned each charted course; Each careful step along the byway, But more, much more than this, I did it my way. Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew When I bit off more than I could chew. But through it all, when there was doubt, I ate it up and spit it out. I faced it all and I stood tall; And did it my way. I've loved, I've laughed and cried. I've had my fill; my share of losing. And now, as tears subside, I find it all so amusing. To think I did all that; And may I say - not in a shy way, "No, oh no not me, I did it my way". For what is a man, what has he got? If not himself, then he has naught. To say the things he truly feels; And not the words of one who kneels. The record shows I took the blows - And did it my way. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6E2hYDIFDIU |

A Dream Within A Dream
-----------------------------------------Edgar Allan Poe Take this kiss upon the brow! And, in parting from you now, Thus much let me avow- You are not wrong, who deem That my days have been a dream; Yet if hope has flown away In a night, or in a day, In a vision, or in none, Is it therefore the less gone? All that we see or seem Is but a dream within a dream. I stand amid the roar Of a surf-tormented shore, And I hold within my hand Grains of the golden sand- How few! yet how they creep Through my fingers to the deep, While I weep- while I weep! O God! can I not grasp Them with a tighter clasp? O God! can I not save One from the pitiless wave? Is all that we see or seem But a dream within a dream? |
