Re: LunchCrunch Report

Now, I know what curiosity did but...

Seeing Crooks mentioning bringing two old computers online, I'm assuming that most of us small time crunchers run at home with possibly a work computer as I do.
If it's not rude or sensitive, how many machines do you guys pay the leccy bill for, i.e. home based machines, and how many work or friend based machines?
From years gone, the difference between a quarter with little crunching to a fairly full on crunch quarter is quite marked on the leccy bill.

And yes I really do know what Curiosity did, they released Misfit in 1987. There's one for the kids confused

No work or friends PCs for me sad
1 x i7 PC
2 x i7 Laptops
1 x Quad core PC
1 x Dual core laptop

My wife said no to me using her work i7 laptop.
As for electricity costs, I don't know the damage yet.

Re: LunchCrunch Report

At home:
- 1 x i7-920 (gaming PC, when it's working)

At work:
- 5 x 4-core VMs (datacentre, test VM-lab)
- 1 x 8-core VM (datacentre, colleague's test-platform)
- 1 x dual single-core physical (datacentre, staff-perk colocation)

The latter is the one I'm looking to replace with the dual-node (4-CPU) server...

No idea what the electricity-cost is for my gaming PC alone, but my flat is electricity-only (no gas), I have the gaming PC and fileserver on 24/7, and my laptop and usually the PS3 on when I'm at home, currently paying about £90/month.

Re: LunchCrunch Report

Morning Team, I've just hit 3 years on Malaria and have now pulled out and am back on CEP2 biggrin

Now, I know what curiosity did but...

I do the crunching all alone and at home and always have, my Family, Friends and place of work aren't interested. I pay for all my systems and all the Elecy Costs and maintenance and upgrades (as well as the near constant headaches from the nagging I get about the costs involved & the noise when all systems are buzzing away, from Mrs TMC laughing ).

Current setup (note that not all are running, just there if I need them), are:

2x I7-3770k's
1x I7-870
1x Q9550
1x AMD Phenom

Haha! I think I might have found out why. I have two full pages of "Pending Verification". I never check that page so I don't know if two pages are normal or not?

@ fosking

A broad answer would be "yes". A more specific answer requires more data. What projects are you crunching. Have you changed the mix on any individual computer in the last 7 days? Have you increased cache size?

Of the 6 projects currently running 5 are single quorum - no wingman required once you've established a "reliable" rep for each computer. HPF2 is the exception and because it's in the end zone there will be erratic behaviour in the daily validations partly caused by users increasing cache anticipating the supply of WUs running dry. This erratic behaviour can be seen in the substantial variations in the last 5 days results:

05/27/2013 104:090:01:27:33 144,090,006 177,016
05/26/2013 77:164:17:53:59 106,398,303 132,844
05/25/2013 73:273:11:28:09 100,351,643 125,683
05/24/2013 86:319:22:00:30 118,771,667 149,224
05/23/2013 91:126:09:31:07 124,927,269 158,167

Re: LunchCrunch Report

I'm currently just crunching GFAM but I did increase my cache size about a week ago. As long as they are ok and get verified it's ok. It's really close for me to get sapphire so I'm holding my breathe.
