A good day yesterday with 66 members returning results.
----------------------------------------![]() Let's hope we can maintain that level of activity across the bank holiday weekend. ![]() Instead of painting the pantry or spading the soil why not construct a computer? ![]() As an alternative, and to preserve domestic harmony, construct a computer for your Mrs/Partner/Significant Other. ![]() And if you see a stranger lurking in the UK team thread, recruit them to thw cause! ![]() [edit] After a month of inactivity adoades has just twitched! Could be useful. ![]() ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by jonnieb-uk at May 24, 2013 8:50:13 AM] |

Of personal interest, since I have many friends serving in the Armed Forces, it's good to see a JustGiving page in memory of Lee Rigby, the soldier murdered in Woolwich, has raised over £60,000 in less than 24hrs. The money goes to Help for Heros, my favorite charity.
----------------------------------------If you should feel inclined to donate don't forget to check the "Gift-in-Aid" box so the government can refund the income tax paid on the donation, so the value to HfH is boosted by 25%. 14:25 Now £75,000+ ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by jonnieb-uk at May 24, 2013 1:25:43 PM] |

Morning All
----------------------------------------Welcome to WCG and to the UK team davebaustin Good to have you with us. ![]() ![]() Feel free to post any problems or queries you may have - you'll find us a friendly and helpful team. ![]() Dave becomes the #550 AllTime member of the UK team and the #2 new member this month. No results submitted as yet but the fact he joined WCG yesterday and then came back to join the UK team today, is encouraging. ![]() Dave is a friend and colleague who mentioned to me that he'd signed up after asking why the fan on my laptop was constantly going at full pelt and pumping out a lot of heat during a meeting... I pointed him to the team. I'm not sure if he'll pop on the forum, but I've told him what a lovely group of people there is on here |

Two more posts from jhindo Chief WCG Admin:
----------------------------------------[May 24, 2013 5:40:41 AM] cre8or, I know I'm only reiterating what the others have already said here, but I wanted to reassure you, you have nothing to worry about :) It's great to see projects wrap up - the sooner we get the results back to the researchers, the sooner they can begin the (often lengthy) process of analyzing the results and gaining insight from the data. Having so many active projects did stretch us thin, so projects ending also gives us an opportunity to catch up with adding new functionality and new projects. So rest assured, there will be more projects to come - in fact, we've already started the technical integration work for our next project. [May 24, 2013 5:58:11 AM] ashrader330 - I don't want to make any promises yet about when the next project will be ready. And getting the next project on board isn't the only exciting thing we're working on - e.g. we've been working on adapting v7 of the BOINC client and that's getting close to going into beta testing for that. As for GPU, as Falconet mentioned, this is driven more by the researchers than by us. Their research application needs to run on GPU before we can integrate it. While we have projects in the pipeline with GPU potential, our next project won't launch with GPU on day 1. Needless to say they were buried as answers in chat room threads. When will WCG learn? ![]() That apart I like the hint "we have projects in the pipeline with GPU potential" That's projects plural! ![]() ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by jonnieb-uk at May 24, 2013 9:47:46 AM] |
