Re: LunchCrunch Report

My gaming PC's still offline (not got round to rebuilding onto the SSD yet - I've got that "it's not broken yet, don't fix it" mentality so might just re-enable crunching), those two old Xeon servers have been retired, and I've had serious grumblings from other team-members about increasing the number of VMs I've got on our development/testing platform (as we pay per GB of RAM used - I've got each of the five VMs down to a minimum of 768MB).

I might, however, try increasing some of the VMs up to 8 cores, as there are some VM-hosts in the platform that are dual-quads so would be able to support them - would need to reboot each VM, though, since I forgot to enable hotplug-CPU/MEM when building them all.

TLDR version: my production may be lower than usual for a while...

Oops, sorry jonnieb-uk! I use a fair few forums, some acronyms are well-used on some and not so much on others! smile

Re: Morning Update

These are nervous times for me as I strive to reach Emerald for HCC! tired

The next 24hrs are critical! sick

1st hurdle passed - I've now got 956hrs of HCC cached which will just be enough to achieve Emerald. Ideally I like another 100 hrs to give me a safety net which hopefully I;LL manage to d/l overnight. smile

Re: Morning Update

Finally, thats my 5 years for DSFL biggrin

I had MAJOR problems with Comodo Security Suite, I didn't realise that it was stopping Qchem from running so I have had a whole load of errors on Clean Energy from 1 system, almost an entire day's crunching wasted and nothing I did would stop it, I spent a good couple of hours on the problem, but to no avail crying

I could only fix by replacing Comodo Security Suite sad

Re: Morning Update

@themoonscrescent
I use comodo firewall and had lots of problems with it blocking the WCG apps from running initially. I just ended up setting all the boinc folders as 'safe' and since then I've never had any problems with it letting the crunching crunch biggrin

@jonnieb-uk

So its currently operating on a "one out one in" basis, which is why the next 24hrs are critical until I've d/l another 52 hrs of work.

and then
1st hurdle passed - I've now got 956hrs of HCC cached which will just be enough to achieve Emerald.

So either you are being realllllly overcautious or one of those two numbers has a typo. And out of curiosity how many WUs is 956hours worth?

Re: Morning Update

RE: HCC:

The researchers have identified additional batches for this project which need to be run (and weren't included in the original 25 day estimate). I'm in the process of getting them loaded into BOINC and should be able to provide a more accurate estimated number of days left once this is complete. At minimum though, there should be more than five days left of work before we exhaust the supply of non-resend work units.

Re: Morning Update

Morning All. Bike ditched for the car this morning... despite all the best intentions, I didn't fancy cycling in this much rain (felt cold too). This probably means I'll have to spend my lunch break in the gym to make it up. Easter has taken its toll and I'm still doing damage control.

I'm not joining any last-minute WU-grabbing for HCC as I'm some way off Sapphire. My current plan is to try and get all my Rubies to become Emeralds and then try and hit Sapphire for DSFL before that one finishes in August.

Hope everyone has a good day... and if I'm not back on here later, a good weekend!
