Re: In Other News

Without any offence meant to mathematicians, finding new Prime numbers is one thing, but it people start cheating and faking the results of research into cures for some of the diseases that WCG is trying to tackle, then that's just sick*

(* for any young people on the forum, see definitions 3-5 of sick)

Ah Gordoma, showing your age there.
Have to admit I'm with you on that one but I suppose it's no different to our youth, as Thin Lizzy once sang
You know that chick that used to dance a lot? Every night she be on the floor shakin' what she got Man I tell ya she was cool she was red hot I mean she was steamin'
Cool yet red hot and steamin' ???? Still a good song though.

Morning Team smile

I am now down to just 2 of my I7's now, but still have a large amount of Pending that is waiting to validate. After mulling it over for a while, I've decided to hit Clean Energy Project next, not to hit any particular milestone (5 years would take me about 75 days, including the large timeloss I experienced on the project when I took it to 2 years... 40 minuets - 1 hour timeloss per work unit... Actual time vs CPU time), but I figure that seeing how it is Energy Prices that are preventing me from keeping my crunching levels at 100%, I'll see if I can't help speed up the reduction in costs to solar panels smile

Re: Morning Update

These are nervous times for me as I strive to reach Emerald for HCC! tired

According to my stats (with the aid of WCGDAWS) I need to download another 52hrs work.

But BOINC 7.0.42 is working as it should (unlike earlier versions) and refuses to let me increase my cache anymore:
Tasks won't finish in time: BOINC runs 99.9%% of the time; computation is enabled 100.0%% of that

The next 24hrs are critical! sick

As a consequence I've decided to ignore that BOINC has released a new upgrade - 7.0.64/7.0.65 See this thread

SekeRob is also temporarily(?) absent from the forum and I'd want to see his comments before upgrading. Its not unknown for a release to be faulty!

I've just aborted all my HCC CPU's & a good few GPU's, so if you hit the Update Button now, you'll probably pick up a load more smile

Re: Morning Update

@TMC

Thanks smile but it's not the supply of WUs that's the problem. BOINC, correctly, wont let me d/l WUs in excess of it calculates I can crunch within the 7day time limit for HCC WUs.

So its currently operating on a "one out one in" basis, which is why the next 24hrs are critical until I've d/l another 52 hrs of work.

BOINC Update

BOINC has released a new upgrade - 7.0.64/7.0.65 See this thread

SekeRob comments:
7.0.64 seems to work fine [for me], except for the little esoteric whine items such as setting CPU load to 5% to pause [who does that?] and certain tasks [GPU?] not pausing when that 5% is exceeded. Oddly it's been that one report, i.e. not considered a showstopper.

The one item I thought of particular interest over the of course [here] much discussed app_config.xml was the item that was checked in for the client [but do not know if in this release], is the RPC feedback of OpenCL detection to the project server, so [HCC] GPU work is not send if OpenCL is not up to snuff [Officially min. level 1.1]. For now academic to WCG since by the time 7.0.xx is declared "endorsed" by WCG, HCC is done.

At this time, think the devs are eager to move onto 7.1 pre-alpha and 7.2 alpha development. Should *must have* things appear they can always be ported back. Saw that knreed now is adding code into the git2 WCG release branch directly, meaning a little less dependency on the Berkeley folk. Still hoping for a <in_progress> tag so we can control buffering at science level [of course, never getting more than the quota would allow, and total buffer has been set to, in computing time].
