Re: UK

Good evening all,

Without my GPUs, my performance is very disappointing of late I am afraid.

I will have to arrange some weekend rendering to get things moving!

Re: UK

Good to see you in thread ChrisUK biggrin
Do any of the tasks here utilize GPU's or is it all about the CPU?

Help Conquer Cancer (HCC) is currently the only project available for GPU crunching. The actual graphics card is key to whether it is able to participate. This thread has a list of those cards currently excluded. In broad terms AMD/ATM are ok, NVIDIA less so. The card must be Open CL. CUDA won't work.

I am praying for some CUDA projects as most of my GPUs are NVidia.

Re: UK

Evening all.

All the best adamhill1988.

Following on the GPU question, I wonder if there have been any changes of mind on upcoming or even existing projects utilising GPU processing as the HCC seems to be going quite well.

I browse the forum extensively and there has been no news of any new projects either CPU or GPU. Endless speculation as always but nothing to take to the bank. I suspect the first indication will be untitled BETA WUs as in the past.

Sorry to disappoint but from my reading WCG is committed to Open CL rather than CUDA and I've seen no mention of (future) plans to incorporate development of a CUDA option.

Re: UK

Morning All smile

Back in the early days of GPU, the techies did put out a warning about upgrading or buying new (or both), Graphics Cards (inevitable really), due to HCC being the only GPU project.

As for other projects going the same way as HCC with GPU, I can only see FAAH & HPFP2 as logical due to the length of the projects (the others would be finished in a couple of months), but again the techies have said that it is up to the people running the research and TBH, they have seen the benefits of GPU by now, if there was a way of doing it to those projects then I assume they would have made steps to get them going (atleast a small trial of Beta's, of work that has already been completed, so to get an accurate picture of, if GPU can even run them).. So I think that's a no.

I don't want to be a party pooper, just trying to be realistic, I don't want to get my hopes up, I'll get excited as soon as the techies tell me I can smile
