@ Thargor Best wishes to you and your family.
@ Ian_UK Those numbers you quoted seemed far greater than anything I was doing, 1+1=8minuts, 1CPU+0.333GPU=~21miutes. And it also appeared that my GFLOPS peak was all the way down at about 480?! So I went searching for a problem, it appeared the drivers and GPU monitoring/OCing tools I installed when I built this computer were limiting the core speed to a fixed 705mhz, when the base should have been 965, boosting to 1045. So I uninstalled everything and used driver sweeper to clear all the bits I might have missed. Reinstalled it all and got PrecisionX from evga to monitor the GPU. The result, I have seen base at 965 and boosts as high as 1110 (which seems a little too much so might limit it back.) Initial test have given me these data; CUDA: NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 670 (driver version 310.90, CUDA version 5.0, compute capability 3.0, 2048MB, 1858MB available, 2810 GFLOPS peak) With a single HCC WU completion time of 7:40 which is basically what I was getting before. I'll try running multiple WUs again over night and see if I post any better number that the last time I tried. |

@ Ian_UK & Maugan
----------------------------------------Great to see the interchange of ideas and experiences which helps make the UK team such a friendly team, Happily admitting my ignorance about such things, I'm curious about the references to CUDA since I understood HCC GPU to run on Open CL and that only those NVIDIA cards having Open CL capability will work. ![]() |

The UK team has passed University of Texas at Dallas in the Results rankings and moves to #66
---------------------------------------- I'll publish a full update on Targets and Threats later today, as the continuing strength of the UK team's performance is causing major changes. ![]() |

@ crooks_uk
----------------------------------------Summarising opinion I'd say: i. Keep the team name the same. ii. Close this thread (and lock via email to Admin) and start a new one. iii. Only one comment about the initial sentence - the 100 characters visible on the Thread Summary - don't use formatting. The text is down to your choice so something along the lines of Join the UK team, the largest, friendliest and most active British team on WCG followed by some general info on the team. (And if you wanted to include the image below in the initial post...... )As you pointed out a while back, there's a 120 day period to amend the initial post of the new thread if there's a problem. Anything and everything to encourage new WCG members, or casual forum browsers, to join the UK team. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by jonnieb-uk at Feb 9, 2013 10:59:56 AM] |

At the moment I'm unclear as to what running multiple GPU units has done to my RT on 24/7 PC (i7 Quad core); suspect CPU time has increased based on looking at what CPU and Elapsed time say (Although running 8 units at time on single GPU with 2 CPUs, believe total more than for 2 CPUs...). Part of my problem working RT out, is that my Pending Validation widely varies ...though is generally growing (17 pages at moment... Was 21 this morning...Last month was 4). Hopefully this means should average more RT. Look forward to later Stats .... ![]() TBH, I have given up trying to work anything out for HCC GPU, as you say, the Pending varies widely and I never seem to be able to drop below 26 pages of Pending Validation (I fluctuate between 26 - 49 pages of Validation / 0 - 6 pages of Verification, sometimes within the same day), and from Friday - Tuesday, my updates seem next to worthless. If it is any help at all???, here is a comparison between the last full 7 days Running x8 GPU on a HD 7770 / x2 GPU on a HD 6570 & No GPU at all (the system it's self is an i7-870 2.93ghz, 16GB Ram, Win7 Pro 64bit): HD 7770: 02/08/2013 0:013:16:50:58 221,867 498 02/07/2013 0:010:19:16:12 172,409 379 02/06/2013 0:014:03:00:20 183,797 404 02/05/2013 0:017:11:31:46 235,620 505 02/04/2013 0:013:14:59:41 228,884 506 02/03/2013 0:013:00:49:12 198,449 460 02/02/2013 0:012:10:21:12 172,759 386 HD 6570: 01/10/2013 0:011:09:28:47 59,188 139 01/09/2013 0:005:09:21:57 29,127 70 01/08/2013 0:008:08:25:03 46,297 110 01/07/2013 0:009:06:32:41 48,688 116 01/06/2013 0:007:11:38:37 48,093 111 01/05/2013 0:008:23:33:59 43,302 97 01/04/2013 0:008:00:13:40 45,757 89 No GPU at all: 10/16/2012 0:009:08:59:30 32,103 30 10/15/2012 0:007:01:48:12 23,640 25 10/14/2012 0:008:12:47:36 29,048 29 10/13/2012 0:007:17:24:39 26,215 27 10/12/2012 0:007:16:06:15 26,111 27 10/11/2012 0:006:08:55:20 21,800 26 10/10/2012 0:008:17:43:43 29,725 32 One large variable in those figures is that at each of those times above, I may well not have been running the same project (I have a tendency to set smallish targets on one project and go for that rather than open my full resources to all projects at once), also the weekend slowdown in results validating is also another variable. @ Jonnieb-uk: How do I get WCGDAWS to talk to each system?, I have given up trying, I have tried everything I can to get it to talk to my other systems, but no luck? (that said, the only thing I haven't tried is to install WCGDAWS on each system, it's only on the system I use for browsing?). ![]() ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by themoonscrescent at Feb 9, 2013 1:05:52 PM] |
