----------------------------------------I'm looking to join a team and found you guys (sort of) You don't appear to have much on offer, apart from this one small thread. Your opening statement suggests that all UK teams should consolidate. If that's correct, then why not take that advice and join together with the UK Boinc Team, which has the initial appearance of a better organised group... Then the concept of world domination may become a reality.... Only a suggestion..... Hi Bob, Welcome to the forum. From your statement can I confirm, are you really looking to join a team? If so you are welcome to join us we are very active, and the forum is our primary contact point. I'd be interested to know what, on appearance, makes UK Boinc better organised? jonnieb-uk at Oct 14, 2012 1:13:20 PM I came across this post on Page 1 of the UK thread. Bob Harris last crunched on Feb 22nd 2012 and it would seem never joined the UK Boinc Team nor for that matter the BOINC UK team. Since the original post the UK Boinc Team has recruited 22 new members, 4 of whom subsequently retired, 3 of them sgdale; douglasalt1; and danielwejones to join the UK team. In the same period the UK team added 36 new members with 2 of them subsequently retiring. The UK team remains the only GB based team to have a forum thread. themoonscrescent at Oct 14, 2012 1:02:10 PM I always took that Bob Harris comments as being part troll, so no surprise there TBH. Apart from the one post Bob Harris disappeared without trace! ![]() |

Should we revisit the option of starting a new team thread with a fresh starting post... containing an introduction to the team, what happens in the thread, links to the stats spreadsheet, etc?
----------------------------------------Previous teams I've joined regularly do this to refresh their desired message to new team members. We just post a link to the new thread here and have the admins lock this one. |

The only thing I could see that they did have was a webpage of stats (no-where near our Jonnie-b's stats)

I tend to agree As themoonscrescent pointed out a while back we've done it before.I suggest the ideal time to do is when we achieve a 7day RT Avg of a year per day which, fingers crossed, will be very soon. Although the starting post can be unlimited in length the displayed line(s) appears limited to approx 100 characters. So a bit of friendly competition to come up with a punchy one liner to replace "We are by far the greatest team representing UK members, but we are lagging behind many countries" which will be seen on the thread summary and is the first thing potential recruits (and everyone else). crooks_uk gets to pick the best and incorporate it in a new initial post. Other teams efforts indicate that smilies and formatting commands should be avoided. e.g. [i ][ b][ i]Hi all Brazilians and friends of Brazil !!! [ /i] [ /b][ /i] I'll post my effort shortly. ![]() ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by jonnieb-uk at Feb 6, 2013 9:56:33 AM] |

Hey everyone, I've recently come back to crunching for the UK after what seems to be about a six year gap and this is the first time I've looked at the forum where i seem to be on most of the daily update posts. This in turn pulled me over to boincstats.com for the first time where I found this
----------------------------------------Highest position in WCG 152 at 2006-02-01 (current 48,566) That is crazy, I think even if i hadn't had my prolonged break I dont think I would have stayed that high on my at the time, P4 3.20GHz CPU. Any way, in the last 19ish days I've jumped about 35,000 ranks on points (mainly due to my GPU) with my next target being top 50 for the UK so I can be on the first page of results .[Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 6, 2013 6:40:01 PM] |

Nice to see you in the forum Maugan and welcome back to crunching.
---------------------------------------- i seem to be on most of the daily update posts The update posts tend to come thick and fast early on ( a bit like badges) then slow down to report only significant milestones e.g 5 years RT or 5,000,000 Pts. Out of curiosity what mchine/graphics card do you have, what BOINC version and are you using app_config.xml? ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by jonnieb-uk at Feb 6, 2013 11:28:25 PM] |
