Re: Where are you from?

****************
First of all I would encourage you to scroll back in this thread from here and meet my infrequent summaries of visitors to the Forum. You may find your name and a comment or a suggestion. Take Synapp.IO for instance: I have nothing but praise for your Forum Profile, and each time I meet you I ask you to consider joining team The Survivors.
****************
Not all that long ago, adriverhoef posted something about *Mermaid Bakery* - it was a Japanese thing.
I have looked for his post in my own helpless Speurneus way.
I have no idea in which thread it is, and Speurneus and I litter this many threads hugs with oceans of posts biggrin
Decided to post it here because it tended to spin out of control, whirl up some geography, and end up in Spandau, only to return to Denmark in Japan.

Anyway here goes:
Mermaid Bakery has a ’Mermaid Day’ on the 15th of every month, and I had made a note in my Google Calender that governs my life when adriverhoef posted his item and pushed it until today. So this morning I decided to dig a little deeper in this enterprise running around with my name:

Little Mermaid Bakery is a conglomerate
If you dig deep enough on their website you'll find it has these branches:
Andersen Institute of Bread & Life
Andersen Hiroshima
Andersen simply Andersen
Mermaid Bakery Partners
Takaki Bakery
Takaki Foodservice Partners
- and you’ll find much more

Andersen alluding to fairy tale writer Hans Christian Andersen
Mermaid alluding to his fairy tale 'The Little Mermaid'
Takaki being the name of the baker behind all these enterprises
Takaki being the Danish consul general in Hiroshima who planted the cherry tree blossom avenue near my home
Hiroshima being the first city ever to feel the power, fury and horror of a nuclear bomb

Takaki knows about *hygge* and writes about *hygge* in his website and he is hopelessly in love with Denmark

I have to visit his cherry blossom tree park at Langelinie in Copenhagen which I didn't know of, and buy some Japanese Danish at one of his three Andersen Bakeries in Copenhagen, which I also did not know of, come spring ...

Takaki makes very authentic looking spandauere (the name of that particular model of Danish - Spandau being the name of a suburb to Berlin, where the Nazi VIPs who were not sentenced to death but to various long prison sentences some to life spent years and years - Albert Speer living to be released, Rudolf Hess never to taste freedom again (if ever; the man was an enigma). Spandau Castle where they were held prisoners was demolished when the punishments were over in order not to create any occasions for myths. There are groups of people who celebrate Rudolf Hess's birthday. Those must be the educated ones; I just read that "half of all fifteen- and sixteen-year-olds in German high schools don't even know that Hitler was a dictator, while a third believe that he protected human rights." ['After Europe' by Ivan Krastev] d oh

Back to Takiki and his infatuation with Denmark and Danish …

Spandauere comes in two variants: this cream one
and a preserve one.
The preserve one usually has raspberry preserve,
but Takiki fused some Japan into it and used cherry preserve tongue

Re: Where are you from?

cjslman, I posted a message for you in my sorry 'Attention - Achtung - Attenzione' personal message substitute.
Without luck. Not unexpectedly.
You came and you went and you didn't look.

I'll try here, because sometimes you visit this thread in order to have confirmed that indeed you are from Mexico.

So my message for you is this:
Looking for/calling cjslman
- I would like to ask you a question.
Would you be against a visit to your team Cahuamos from whatever Base Camp crew
we would be able to assemble in a couple of weeks?
Do you think you would talk to us - just a little?
Do you think you would have the time to show us just a few of your favorite Mexican places?
I have never been to Mexico, and the Edwardians faction of Base Camp has neither.

If only life was this easy some more of the time

Re: Where are you from?

I'm sorry that you lose all these jazz musicians sad
He's really good. I think Bjarke Falgren is good, but his style is much different.
Oh, do you really come from Martinique, alged?
I once had a pen friend there smile - it couldn't be you, could it? biggrin
And now you live in France. For how long have you done that?
I take it you live in Paris because of your knowledge of 'Maison Danois' right there at Champs Elysées

How can we afford such an address? shock

Re: Where are you from?

Well in fact i am not really native of Martinique but my parents.
It is my "homeland"of heart!....and holiday when it was possible to
afford it
Living in Paris became unaffordable so we "retreat" to some 40kms
south of.
Less concrete , more nature.Happy

Re: Where are you from?

Good to hear, alged.
Martinique must be a world apart from Paris - even from 40 km south of Paris - literally and virtually.

FAHE, congratulations on your 5 years of Mapping Cancer Markers.
I would like to congratulate each and every cruncher with each and every milestone and badge in all disciplines, SNURK sign globes included.
That would make for very cluttered threads, and I don’t think that is management’s intention
- it’s bad enough as it it with me blushing I know.
Sometimes, though, I cannot help it. This time I had this nifty chance of doing it in this thread that needs some CPR anyway.
FAHE, your Forum Profile business card is in that TonyEllis class
but then again: You and he are almost neighbors by Australian standards.
Is it something in the water that make you create such informative profiles?

I learned something already at 0830 UTC+1 which leaves plenty of time to learn more this very day:
You state an ACT, which I didn't know about. Looked it up:
Australian Capitol Territory.
There you go. Almost like Washington, D. C.
So now I know where I’ll go if my friend decides to visit her sister in Canberra next February and I’ll tag along.

Not just New South Wales, but ACT specifically … cool

Re: Where are you from?

It been a long time since I took a look at the crunchers who visit our Forum, so let's do so on this quiet Sunday:
gvonerden has been a silent cruncher since 2009. He does not say where he's from, but let me venture: Europe, Benelux, or Germany
Jakub.Asgard is a veteran. Vintage 2006. He posts, but has no SNURK sign to help us geographically. Let me venture again: The Faroe Islands, Iceland or the Baltic states.
Darkmatter.NI is here. He prefers to tell us he's from the Northern Ireland part of United Kingdom with name and his UK-modified SNURK sign
tonyh205 visits from the UK
Apis_Tintinnambulator is here from England with his perfect Forum Profile
joneill003 is from the United States and is up early this Sunday
acpartsman - my Base Camp companion - is up early as well in Martinsville VA, USA, and his Forum Pofile is of the TonyEllis class
- go have a look if you want a role model cool
morganTN has crunched in silence since 2010. In spite of his anglo-looking/sounding name, he tells us he's from Norway in his Forum Profile.
God dag, nabo, og takk smile
TomNuttall is here. I read the team UK thread. I feel your pain.
Sheridon is a frequent guest here, and you post quite a bit. I know you are from Germany. One of adriverhoef's several snifferdogs found that out, but Sheridon, please let all your fellow crunchers know by saying so in your Forum Profile
devilish it cannot be kept a secret anyway biggrin
tmedve visits from Essex Junction, Vermont, USA. It's a pleasure to meet one more perfect Forum Profile, tmedve peace
PabloMalaga you have crunched since 2011 and post, but your Forum Profile says nothing about where you're from, Pablo.
Should you happen to be from Malaga? confused
ca5065 you have crunched since 2007, you post regularly, but we cannot see where you're from. 'ca' could hint at California, but I don't think so. If so, you would be a night owl. I'm curious for several reasons. I have an e-mail here if you want to whisper your country to me smile
cristipurdel is from Romania it says on your SNURK sign. You know, you could put it in your Forum Profile, too. We don't have many Romanians here.
Falconet checks in from Lisboa, Portugal
RTS48 visits all the way from Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Santa Cruz, Bolivia. I looked at your photos this morning. What an abundance of light and colour! rose Not to mention cats biggrin
asdavid, a dedicated cruncher since 2004, visits from France. You are one of the few posting women here whom KLiK sent a greeting on March 8
JacoCXJ has crunched since 2008 in silence - but now I notice you just asked SNURK for a sign. Now we may get to know where you're from, because SNURK digs deep cool
Shaky Jake has crunched for 10 years from Dothan, Alabama, USA. Thank you for having created an informative Forum Profile for us.
I think Dothan has a good crunching climate tongue
ag014400 has crunched for a long, long time and posted once. Where do you come from?
[SG] Thomas Kleinhenn is from Germany and knows English perfectly. I guarantee he does applause
Saphir12 the female capitaine of team Kraland is in from France with your Forum Profile which was OK but you just made it even better, Nathalie rose
JuanjoMC has crunched since 2014 in silence.
Tiger PUN joined us yesterday. Welcome. Interesting name. Where are you from?
Panas has crunced in silence since 2006.
dominik282 checks in from Germany
QuantumEthos, adriverhoef's smart dogs found you in France. Is that so? Maybe you would let everybody here know by listing it in your Forum Profile?
katoda has crunched since 2007, he posts, and he tells us he's from Poland - another neighbour - this time across the Baltic
as1981 has crunched since 2006 and posted, too, but we don't know from where
F.C.L. is here from Albacete in Spain and has crunched for 11 years. Nice Forum Profile biggrin
Macromancer is from Naples, Florida, USA. I like your informative Forum Profile, and I'm sure everybody who looks you up will like it, too.
dswaner joined us in January. Welcome! Where do you come from?
Armiger has crunched in silence for a couple of years.
AgrFan has crunched for 10 years and posts frequently, but where do you come from?
Doneske is from Montgomery, Texas. Nice profile, current team mate peace
LCB001 states NCR, Quebec, CANADA in his profile. So nice.
Is half of Canada NCR? hypnotized
Sgt.Joe checked in from St. Cloud, Minnesota, with his perfect Forum Profile
adriverhoef has finished feeding his speurneusen and speurhonds
- I hope I have the plurals right worried
and arrived from the Netherlands

This turned into a busy morning.
I hope some of you got inspired to fill in your business cards (Forum Profiles) wink
and that not too many of you got irritated not talking
Next time I better check the evening/night shift hugs

Uhm, a bit difficult to answer here as this is not the language thread, but I would like to say this:
The plurals of Dutch nouns are mostly ending in -en or -s.
Most of the time it is -en (hondhonden); -s is used when a noun ends in a vowel or when its last syllable contains a shwa: (speurderspeurders).
http://www.dutchgrammar.com/en/?n=NounsAndArticles.08
If a singular noun ends in a hard (unvoiced) f or s, we will generally write a soft (voiced) v and z in the plural: neusneuzen.

Re: Where are you from?

laughing crying
- so even as it is not the language thread, I managed to get it totally wrong pig
Adri, my German teacher is such a friendly person. When I blunder royally, he says:
'Never mind, it will be understood!'
And in fact, the Germans are very positive and seem to be grateful that you make an effort
to speak to them in their native language even as you break and squash it beyond recognition.
So, now my question is:
'Will it be understood?'

If I say 'speurneusen en speurhonds' instead of
'speurneuzen en speurhonden'
will I be understood confused
- or will I be locked up worried
- or will I be responsible for some serious laughter attacks?
