Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 50 smilesmile

I agree with Keith and nanaprobe. I keep a .8 day queue on my machines. They include single processors, duals and quads. I have seen the same problem that you have parmesian but much less severe..most likely due to the queue size. In theroy, it should all work out except that it causes more disk I/O and depending on if the suspended tasks are in memory or not, it could cause thrashing (page faulting)--overuse of virtural memory. sad

I bet if you reduce the queue, this problem will mostly go away in n days where n is your current queue length minus the amount you reduce it to (assuming that you reduce it to 1 or so)

It does seem that the DDDT2 supply is leveling out more lately so that it's not feast or famine, with lots of the latter. With the past, when DDDT2 WUs have hit, lots of folks have been inclined to bump their queues up to get what they can. Pre-6.10 levels of BOINC did not behave this way. I suppose that something was "fixed" that is behind this behavior with larger queues. I have run with 3.5 days for years now, mainly because that is just more than the longest outage ever at WCG. It's not been a problem. When you get above that, you have play with the "Switch projects" value even when you run only one project. Heaven help you if you ever manage to click on one of the column headers in BOINC Manager. Once you sort on a column, you can never "unsort", just sort on something else. That strikes me a pretty stupid but I know that there's plenty about BOINC that I don't know and that there actually could be a sensible explanation for that. Still, 6.10 is probably the WORST BOINC level I've used.

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 50 smilesmile

For those interested, we're on pace for a 277+ million point year as of the end of April. Our daily average is over 759K now and still rising. I would love to see us doing over 900K daily on a consistent basis. We're very close to that now.

Health's a nonissue, till it is!
And it all stacks up at once. I hardly ever saw a doctor other than regular check-ups until I was 45. Then the warranty expired laughing and all those injuries from years ago reasserted themselves.

In your 20's, you're invincible. In your 30's, things start to change. You have to cut back on the booze to avoid the Dunlop, start buying over the counter pain meds for those occasional aches you're having now and then, and start to avoid a few foods that just don't seem to sit with you as well as they use to. In your 40's, the hair goes if it hasn't already, the knees get cranky and the back starts talking back to you. You start on your collection of daily meds. In your 50's, you try to keep from panicing. You have trouble keeping up with all your daily meds. You no longer keep track of the various aches and pains. You now buy your OTC meds in bulk at the warehouse club. In your 60's, you start turning into a cyborg as you have hips, knees, valves and such replaced. In your 70's, you find peace and happiness as you can't remember your aches, pains or meds long enough to matter!
