Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 49smilesmile

FYI....Our daily points average is now a quick growing 740K+ which now has us on pace to beat 270 million for the year!

Edit: The What-If demon got the better of me! laughing Assuming we continue to average 740K a day through end of the month (conservative as it should keep growing for at least that long) and then we average a million points a day after that (yea, a best case probably but we are talking eight more months over which to do that), we're looking at 333.8 million points this year. At 900K per day over those eight months, it's 309.3 million. At 800K per day, it's 284.8 million. Judson's looking a like a lot better seer than me! biggrin A 300 million year is looking increasingly possible. Not a bad follow up to a 190 million year! applause

Are we catching up to anyone yet??

Hi Gerald,
Not much movement on BOINCStats. In fact, someone is catching up to us.

You have to look at it in context too. In terms of just WCG, that's where we recently passed BOINC@Australia on points. IBM Rochester is next above us but they're doing slightly more points per day than us right now. In WCG runtime, Fansub for Research is below us but we're averaging more runtime than them. Christians team is next above us and averaging about the same as us. In WCG results, Ukraine is next below us and way above us in average results so they will pass us in time. The next team above us is averaging slightly more than we are. The BOINCStats info only tracks BOINC credits (it doesn't have our pre-BOINC points) and also includes projects other than WCG. I think the net of it all is that we need to get to a million points a day level to make headway on moving up. We've definitely slowed down the rate at which we're getting passed.

I didn't realize that I had quite a few crunchers off line due to a power outage. Most of them are back up, so their results should start showing up in a few days.
They are rack mounted systems (Clear Cubes) and are headless. It's hard to monitor them unless I remote into them. I just have to remember to do that! biggrin

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 49smilesmile

Probably most of you have heard the discussion before but I would like to point out that looking a BOINC Stats is dubious. So many projects give so many Credits for differing amounts of work that it is incomprehensible. I have quit looking at those things since they compare apples to mosquitoes, crabs and emeralds.

The best comparison, if that is really important, is within the WCG. Alternately, WCG could, like others, decide to give out twice or ten times as many points for the same work as they do now and then the BOINC stats would look different...at least till the next project decided to change their scheme for awarding points or credits.

I know of no real way to "harmonize" this but suggest that without a harmonization, these cross project tabulators are doomed to remain superfluous.

Chris, I have stumbled on a great way to deal with your difficulties of seeing when machines are down. I have installed Teamviewer on my other machines and then set up a team viewer partner list. In this way, you can see what machines are "Live" and which are "offline". You might want to give that a try. smile

There's also apps like BOINCView and BOINCTasks. The latter is supposed to use a lot less CPU from my reading. BOINC Manager can also be used to manage BOINC on other machines. You click on Advanced-Select Computer and enter the machine's IP address. I believe these apps do the same sort of thing but you store the IP's in a file and I think you can work with multiple machines at the same time. I would supposed they couldn't show any info on a machine if it's down so it may help in that respect too.

True. The nice thing that Teamviewer adds is that you can logon and operate any of the computers from your main machine..up to and inclucing rebooting it.
