Re: Computing for Clean Water 64 bit

Does the BOINC Manager have to be a 64 bit application to receive these or will the 32 bit manager running on a 64 bit OS suffice?

Re: Computing for Clean Water 64 bit

You need to have the 64 bit version of boinc. Also, your computer's operating system needs to be 64 bit. Here is a direct link to the 64 bit version of the BOINC software.

http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_6.10.58_windows_x86_64.exe

Oh good, I'm covered. Already got the 64 bit manager on my 64 bit devices. Thanks.

Re: Computing for Clean Water 64 bit

Exciting that a 64-bit version has been developed!

I have received 3 WUs, all on my 2 faster machines. One has started running, and the other machine should start in on the two it got in less than a hour. Both are Linux (Ubuntu 10.04).

The estimated times to completion are off -- 3:45 on my fastest machine vs 2:45 on my second-fastest machine. But who knows what BOINC is trying to go by since neither of these machines has been crunching C4CW lately.

Edited to add: These betas have a 3-day deadline.

Are these setting the stage for C4CW project 3?

Re: Computing for Clean Water 64 bit

Project 3, Phase 3? No, AFAIK there is no phase designation for C4CW i.e. no suffix 1. What is guessed presently is, that this science will run for an estimated 2 years, uninterrupted.

Re: Computing for Clean Water 64 bit

Is there a way to verify whether I am running the 64bit version? I do get the version (6.10.58), and I downloaded it directly from BOINC, but there is no indication it is actually the 64 bit version (other than that it is installed under "program files" as opposing to "program files (x86)").

Re: Computing for Clean Water 64 bit

If on W7 it went to \Program Files\ it's a pretty good assurance. W7 does not permit 32 bit installation in there. Now what you see if looking in that old Help > 'About' screen?

The downloaded installer itself also is identified with 'x86_64' in the file name.
