Re: Computing for Clean Water 64 bit

I received 9 work units. The last one was a repair job and initially reported "Inconclusive" for me. It is now showing "Valid". It ran 2.93 hours. The other 8 ran 2.90 hours each.

Vista Ultimate 64
Intel Q6700
8 GB RAM

Re: Computing for Clean Water 64 bit - version 6.16

Hi.

I have only got the one task so far, nice speed up & credits are closer.

BETA_ c4cw_ target03_ 061044217_ 0__Black-AMD-X6__Valid__2/24/11_20:43:12__2/25/11_02:50:48__4.03__97.8 / 90.2

c4cw_ target03_ 053991038_ 1__Black-AMD-X6__Pending Validation__2/22/11_20:42:31__2/23/11_20:39:07__4.84__120.4 / 0.0

You're the only other person I've seen so far who is reporting as big a speed-up as I got on my AMD Phenom II X4 under Ubuntu. Based on your machine name, I assume it's also an AMD and probably a Phenom. Both of us are seeing around 15-16% speed-up. smile

Re: Computing for Clean Water 64 bit - version 6.16

C4CW in production shows a 7 day mean of 5.00 hours per task (in fact it's the 21day mean too). The Beta shows 4.33 hours mean.

Not representative since the production numbers are a mix of 64 bit capable and those not, but the more that can convert, the better. W7 comes with both 32 and 64 bit disks and Linux is free anyhow and I think Mac Intel only goes in 64 bit, so these device owners don't have a choice to make :D.

PS, in case it escaped the attention, but it's Mac Intel only per the announcement.

Re: Computing for Clean Water 64 bit - version 6.16

I have one computer running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. The processor is an Intel i980X running 100% at stock speed (3.33 GHz). Hyperthreading is turned on, so it's running 12 concurrent work units at all times.

With four Beta work units I observed an average time decrease of only 6.5 minutes (2.5%). I had thought it would be more, but hey, it still like getting something for nothing. It seems worth it to me, and I hope we will be getting these 64-bit work units in production.

Re: Computing for Clean Water 64 bit - version 6.16

I received five beta units across three computers, all running Ubuntu, and saw a speedup in the range 6-12%.

For whatever reason, the fastest computer (i7 2600K@4.0GHz, four active cores) got the largest speedup measured in percent (~12%, N=3) while the slowest computer (i3 540, two active cores) got the smallest speedup (6%, N=1).

Re: Computing for Clean Water 64 bit - version 6.16

Received 4 6.16 units on my 64-bit Win7 quad (Q6600, 4GB ram) machine. 2 finished and valid, 2 still running alongside DDDT2 units. Typical c4cw runtime is 4.20 hours, these units ran 4.26 and 4.28 hours so far.
