Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

^ Indeed, I saw this thread as well as a chart, but it hasn't been updated for 2 years.

It looks like the current progress used to be hosted at this URL, but it doesn't work anymore: http://cleanenergy.harvard.edu/index.php?ira=news_progress&tipoContenid

I will rely on your words then: about 1/3rd done, which means an estimated completion around 2016 at current computing power.
It also means its benefits may not be applied and seen in production solar cells before 2020... Ouch. I guess we badly need more participants.

You guys were not interested in work at LBL. Here is another item to try on for size.

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Hi Theor,
If you look closely, you'll see that Sekerob's chart is actually updated day-by-day. Our own webpage is somewhat outdated - we are working on a complete revamp but it hasn't that a high priority (in comparison to our actual research), so most of the work get's done in the odd hours on the weekends and it has hence been dragging on for a bit... Sorry about that.
While we always hope for more crunchers, your timeline estimate is off. We are already working with a number of experimentalist collaborators and we hope to make the CEP data available to the general public sometimes this year.
Best wishes
Your Harvard CEP team

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Hi Richard,
now, that is a topic we are on top of! Actually, the Aspuru-Guzik Group is on the forefront of some of the progress made in this field called "Excitonics".
http://aspuru.chem.harvard.edu/excitonics/
And yes, we are trying to utilize some of the techniques and insights gained from exciton, energy, and charge transfer in biological light-harvesting systems to our work on solar cells. Sule is actually the one who spearheads our current proof-of-principle investigations.
Best wishes
Your Harvard CEP team

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Cool!! I got one right.

One of the things that I have learned in my blog work is that research, both basic and applied, is going on all over the place with convergence of many people in different specialites, places and organizations all on the trail of the same new science. In fact, without all of that collaboration, nothing would happen.

In case anyone thinks that Jabba and Dawn are anything awesome... see this from my little home Linux system:

(A little emergency cleaning was required of this ''thumb'' drive)

Surely XKCD has a something better on the subject than this: http://xkcd.com/483/

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Today is Harvard’s 2012 Commencement ceremony and we are particularly proud to have our very own Roberto Olivares-Amaya “walk” in his PhD cap and gown! In addition, former CEP team members Leslie Vogt and our undergrads Ari Gold-Parker and Alex Ramek celebrate their graduation from Harvard in the Tercentenary Theatre! Congrats guys and all the best!

Well Sekerob, looks like someone hates to throw things (bytes) away ;).
