Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

We completed the bit-by-bit comparison of the first data batch on our Jabba arrays with the backup copy on the tapes. This test turned out positive which was not quite unexpected but nonetheless great news. So we indeed have valid backups of the CEP2 data in case of a catastrophic failure. A big thanks to the FAS-RC team for making this happen!

Thanks Richard! A number of other websites have also picked up on the Trestles press release and reposted it - amongst others PhysOrg!

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

All right, first things first: We are back - we had a server problem over night which prevented uploads but it seems to be sorted out now. We are also back updating you here and on the forum! Stay tuned, more details to follow...

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Ok, first of all we want to sincerely apologize for the Harvard server outage in the early hours of today and any trouble it may have caused. It appears that some changes to the Harvard filesystems did not propagate to our servers with the effect that the WCG uploads started to get blocked. A big thanks goes to our friends at Harvard Research Computing and the IBM WCG team who managed to sort this out very quickly. You guys are the best and CEP couldn’t work without your support!

So, after all this excitement it’s back to crunching biggrin.

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

For those who have been concerned about our extended period of silence on the research log: We had retreated into the “proposal cave” to get our latest grant proposal out in time - which we did Wednesday night. So now we keep our fingers crossed as this grant could be the CEP funding for the next three years. But in any case – we are back to keep you updated and answer your questions.
