Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Today’s excitonics seminar at MIT is given by Mark Wilson from the University of Cambridge (UK). He’ll talk about "Singlet Exciton Fission in Polyacenes: Photophysics and Photovoltaic Applications" which is a very relevant topic for organic electronics and photovoltaics as well. The CEP team will naturally be there to listen and learn biggrin

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

We had our monthly phone call with the IBM-WCG team today and everything seems to be in best order. Great – crunching on!

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

We had a visitor from the Harvard Medical School Children’s Hospital this morning. They were not too interested in plastic solar cells but they came over to have a look at our Jabba storage pods. They need a similar solution for a data intensive research project and they apparently consider adopting the Backblaze pods and building on our experience with it.

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

That's cool. Perhaps you could put a bug in their ear that, while all of their computers are not busy doing hospital stuff, possibly they could support CEP by joining our team. See that way they can stay on top of all the latest breakthroughs you guys find in their storage needs :D

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

We had another tutorial meeting with Dotmatics yesterday and Leon will start a trial of their Vortex software over the winter break. If we can get it to work on our database we can push the applicability of this datamining, analysis, and visualization tool into the domain of computational materials science. Very exciting!

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

We have another meeting with the Ceder Group from MIT today to see in how far we’ll have a joint website for our Clean Energy Project database and their Materials Project database. Their current website may end up becoming the platform/gateway for both our databases in order to share attention to these computational materials science efforts.

Re: Research Log: Updates from the Harvard Team

Alan was interviewed yesterday by the Mexican newspaper "Reforma" for their bi-weekly science podcast. Of course, he used the opportunity to talk about CEP biggrin. It may take a while till it’s published though.
