As always, it never gets me to understand why most of the fails happen to others, but not to my clients. Pushed the three 'sr' ahead since it's known they're short, so here's the first... normal PV from my duo centrino:
----------------------------------------ts06_ a013_ sr89a1_ 2-- - In Progress 10/28/10 03:23:53 11/1/10 03:23:53 0.00 0.0 / 0.0 ts06_ a013_ sr89a1_ 1-- 617 Error 10/28/10 01:37:33 10/28/10 01:41:05 0.00 0.0 / 0.0 ts06_ a013_ sr89a1_ 0-- 617 Pending Validation 10/28/10 01:37:29 10/28/10 09:13:11 1.69 17.9 / 0.0 <--- Moi The wingman error has this: <core_client_version>6.10.58</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> too many exit(0)s </message> ]]> Which strongly suggests outside influenced, the usual suspects being firewalls/av. Frankly I did not do anything this time. It's the same app version so there were no pop-ups expected nor seen. Avast 5.01 on W7-32 bit. Will let the 'pc' run after this which is the only other Type C sub received... some 8. Notably, this is by far the biggest VM consumer... 514MB each, whilst the RAM use is just very small... saw 6MB for the first 'sr' job. edit: x-posted from the Rain thread: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...d,29732_offset,300#300987

Which strongly suggests outside influenced, the usual suspects being firewalls/av. FWIW the ones that failed on my Linux machines are dedicated crunchers running with no AV or firewall.
In 1969 I took an oath to defend and protect the U S Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and Domestic. There was no expiration date.

"too many exits" is an indicator that something was causing extreme slowdown too... an excessively busy system. I noted that my disk went in overdrive for a while which I'd not seen on any other science, a brief "short of memory" included. Allowing only 1 at the time presently. Enough of other sciences in cache to let them run alongside Clean Water and Childhood Cancer.

I've had both errors and success across a wide range of machines.
XP & Ubuntu Old P4 to AMD 5200 dual core With & without AV/FW There are no common factors or patterns that I can see. 16 errors + 16 completed OK Remaining WU's suspended until Techs advise. |

Out of 6 WU's on 2 machines, 3 successes (2 sr and 1 pr) and 3 failures (2 sr and 1 pc) with "bad lambda".

One thing is "Too many exits", and another is the error reported here (bad lambda).
I saw that some of the wingmen of my 12 WUs started to get the error, and I aborted all of them. |

No way for me to stop the crunching, because i am away...
----------------------------------------Just to inform.... 123 errors on WUs and 15 valid... I just have 40 WUs in progress....So a lot of CPU time is gone for me.... Mostly the LAMBDA error, didn't have the time to check all errors... On 6 different machines, Vista, Win7 and XP, all 64bit... And errors on different WU-types....
