Re: Win Beta testing started

first we have to get through all the beta's that are out there... i was suppressed when i got through the first round of beta's and got more but then i realized that there are probably only a small amount of people who run windows and beta test???

Received 20 of them. Some are in PV jail, some validated and some still running.

Are there any guesses as to why I have not gotten any betas to run? I would like to know if I have any problems such as bandwidth or hardware. sad

I have a few computers that crunche for WCG. The pc are not synchronised so there ask for new WU at different time. When when i have seen that one of my pc's got a Beta, i increassed immediatly the amount of day cach and got Beta on 4 PC's. smile
But as there was not a lot of Beta, if your PC's were crunching and not asking for new WU when there were released, you missed them. sad
The requirement for CEP2 is a lot of disk space and memory (i think for memory).
It is what i think but may be it is not the explanation. confused
May be Sekerob can give some more explanation or confirm my analyse ?

Re: Win Beta testing started

Best is to discuss BETA testing in the Beta Support forum, ideally here in the 6.25 version thread http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,29850 . Helps as this way we don't have to follow multiple threads and avoids duplication of effort.

As to dkt not getting any, well you have to be enrolled of course in BETA, choose CEP2 itself is irrelevant, and meet the system requirements and happening to ask for work when there are actually some in the hopper slots.

Running 4 concurrent of this one is not a good idea, so since being in production I watch it to always have something lighter running on at least 1, preferably 2 cores for the quad. Requires a little micro managing and improves throughput quite a bit.

Thanks for (offering) to help testing.

edit: AND for Beta, a host is never allowed to have more than there are cores allowed for BOINC to use i.e. a duo can have 2, a quad 4 etc. Complete/Report a BETA task and if there are still left, a new one is assigned.
