Re: Win Beta testing started

FWIW there is a way to greatly reduce the bandwidth issue. Limit your uploads to no more than 80% of your total upload bandwidth.
For example, if you have 1 meg of upload bandwidth and you have 4 crunchers. Take 80% of that 1 meg and spread it out over the 4 machines, or 20% each. That way if they are all uploading at the same time it will keep it within that 80% limit. It may take a while for the large files, like CEP2 to finish, but they will finish and shouldn't bog your network down. That is what I have used and it works well for me.

That will be Excellent if this works.
The 5th computer of my little farm is my gaming rig and the
beta with it's monster DL or UL lagged my games bad,

My only concern is by limiting the bandwidth to 20% will that
affect the eligibility for CEP2. My DL will be fine (1.5 megabyte)
but upload...

Re: Win Beta testing started

If you spread enough manure on them they eventully grow into large farms.

If I could somehow convert that manure into money I'd be good to go. alien 1

Therein lies the problem. crying BTW: What's the weather like in the Crab Nebula? Way too HOT here in the Sierra Foothills for almost October. New records for the last two days (101F). The silicon life forms almost got heat stroke today. laughing OMG I am off topic again. wink

Like your sense of humor nano ... not enough of that around here. peace

That would really depend on how many machines you have running CEP2. I have the same speeds as you but I only run 2 of my quad linux boxes on CEP2 full time. I limited the betas to 2 Windows machines but since they were also running other projects I didn't have any issues using the 80% setting. If you also game online I don't know how that would affect your overall performance. I would suggest the only way you'll know is to test it 1 box at a time. Whatever you do I can pretty much say for sure you'll have lag issues above 80% upload, especially if you game. Trial and error is how I got to where it works for me. Good luck.

Not bad. I'm in the cooler blue zone.

Thanks. Funny how things come more into perspective as we age. Besides, 5 grand children tend to keep you smiling. biggrin

Five grand kids is a much better investment than manure! We all do what we can do here. I am always suprised how some stress out over a few pixels in a badge or some wu that blew up. Perspective only happens when you are old enough to look back and youth is wasted on the young. biggrin

So? How much does a retirement condo cost in the "blue zone"? I may have to sell all these acres and down size some day. wink

I had better stop before someone busts my balls for hijacking a thread. cool

Funny, I was internet shopping this very afternoon to turn my dual into a quad and saw something I was interested in. A few hours later I went back to the site and someone had apparently bought the last one. Major bummer. crying So I'm looking again. money eyes
