What if 1WU/host actually goes in production? This may become a nightmare for all the badge hunters like myself.

We will be running another beta for Windows soon. There are some minor code changes and this beta will also limit a host to running only one workunit at a time. This is total bullcrap due to 2 reasons: 1. You are limiting machines which can actually handle more Betas at a time. 2. This isn't even a fix to the problem. It's just a cheap workaround, which doens't solve any problems at all. |

the reason of beta is not "crunch more WUs and get more results", but to test WU on bigger number of different devices/setups, therefore this 1wu/host rule is quite wise.
----------------------------------------edit: also, CEP2 WUs take quite much cpu time (up to 12 hours) so every small cep2beta wu is a giant leap for ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by rilian at Sep 29, 2010 8:58:24 PM] |

I have developed a configuration for my farm that works best for the myriad and varied projects I support. I know y'all with the farms have a lot to keep track of. I'm just trying to manage my little "garden."

Whatever... certainly it will identify if all cores concurrent, n / 2 cores, n / host reduces the bottlenecking or other i/o fails. Beta testing is volunteering a device, no commitment from WCG to even send any and in this distribution most certainly making sure the widest range of beta devices are hit, even those that might meet present minimum System Requirements, but may not be the same when the production pipe on Windows is opened. Till then, lets not jump guns with point 2 type observations. Thanks for volunteering to help testing this research.

Perhaps if we served some warm milk and cookies with that Beta it would get rid of those nasty nighmares. Hopefully what's best for the project and the crunchers is what will be implemented. Just giving you a hard time, evilkats. Crunch on bro ... |
