Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

I am still almost 13 days away from my Bronze. My machine has been willing to accept DDDT2 work units since the beginning, and has received only 4. None in 2011. I do not remember if I got any in 2010. But I got 4 early on.

I do not choose to complain about this, but it is hard to feel sympathy for people who are almost to ruby level wishing for more units, when I cannot even get enough for a bronze.

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

From Fall 2010 until April 2011, there actually were lots of DDDT2 waves. I made 140 days with only 2 threads until January 2011 and the Emerald badge after that with 10 threads. The project seems to be in a deep sleep - but as soon as it wakes up, try only opting-in for Dengue tasks. Patience & Cheers.

No, go work on the new projects. Watch this topic and you will know when new WUs are available.

Did you only have the project selected and not others?

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

If you are badge hunting for certain other projects but want to know if/when Dengue wakes up from its deep sleep then try what I do.

My cache is set to 10 days.

I set my projects to the ones that I want to work on in the meantime, fill my cache and then set my projects to Dengue only.

That means that my computer is checking for Dengue regularly for about 9 days until my cache is nearly empty. I then repeat the process about every 9 days.

I only have to intervene manually every 9 days, so it is no problem doing it.

If you are doing several other projects, you can vary which projects you set as they get to the next badge to enable the others to catch up.

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

On my fast machine, for WCG, I have only three selected
1.) The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2
2.) Discovering Dengue Drugs - Together - Phase 2
3.) Influenza Antiviral Drug Search

I also have other projects selected ,
Requested Recent Actual Goal
0.) WCG 11% 19.49% 25%
1.) Climate Prediction 58% 54.22% 50%
2.) Malaria Control 11% 5.26% 8%
3.) Setiathome 8% 11.77% 8%
4.) Rosetta@home. 12% 9.27% 8%

I have another machine also running BOINC. It accepts most WCG projects, but cannot run clean energy or DDDT2 because it does not have enough memory, and some do not run because of old OS and CPUs. So it will never get DDDT2.

In the past, with similar work load, I got 265 work units of DDDT1, so I am puzzeled at getting only 4 DDDT2 work units over a much longer time interval. For WCG I have given it more priority than before and on this machine, I have reduced the number of different WCG projects to those three. And Influenza does not seem to send out work units either. I suppose I could cut off Clean Energy, but lacking DDDT2, it seems a shame to do that.

Re: New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!...

Everytime there's a new reply in this thread I think it's the announcement that new wus are on their way. But alas, it's usually someone bemoaning the lack of work. And maybe this contribution of no particular value has misled someone else to think things are happening. When they're not.

Also, I notice that the 'New thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!' is now considerably longer at 1748 replies than the original 'It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!', which got replaced at 1128 replies 'cos it was too long. Perhaps there should be a 'New new thread for It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!'? Or not.
