Re: The "Computing for Clean Water" Crunching Chart

Yesterday morning we passed a major milestone: 50,000,000 validated results, and most ran in zero redundancy... no wingman.

Crunch On.

So that must mean there's roughly 16610000 results remaining till the end of the project.

Crunch crunch

Re: The "Computing for Clean Water" Crunching Chart

We have no volume information, only a finger in the air end-date on which the progress % is based [which is why the dashboard shows "calendar" as progress base]. We're on T05 of a "possible" T99 aka 99 targets, so it could end with T05 as well, but it could also last several more years [whatever the scientists decided]. The targets themselves have an unknown number of tasks, which I've found impossible to derive from the first 4 targets we've completed, so feel free to make anything of where we are. I don't know and therefor have full deny-ability ;O).

I took % complete from Dashboard 66.92 date 01/19/12 then went 100-66.92=33.08 then I went 50000000+33.08%=16540000 task remaining

As SekeRob said CWC could go on for alot longer

Re: The "Computing for Clean Water" Crunching Chart

As noted in the CEP2 crunching thread, the slow and or finishing sciences cause resources to get redirected and C4CW is benefitting too, with a projected record of 311,000 results for Feb.22... that's today.

Crunch On, for a cleaner world as we're living on the proverbial chemball this minute... if earth was a lollypop, first take the wrapper off :o(

Approximately 23.2 million tasks left by today's figures.

Re: The "Computing for Clean Water" Crunching Chart

Why suddenly were the work units changed to need a quorum of 2? This happened in the last day.

Re: The "Computing for Clean Water" Crunching Chart

Absent any official word or even a behind closed doors hint: For your computer only is more probable, given that *all* computers get periodically checked to see if they are still to be trusted to do it alone i.e. there is a verification cycle for the zero redundancy sciences.

They haven't changed, this is standard procedure for any new host (or one that for whatever reason they wish to check reliability). Usually when a veteran cruncher starts seeing a quorum of 2, they are getting result number 1. Result 0 went to the new host and someone has to get the redundant copy.

You said in a different thread yesterday that you had aborted some c4cw WU's. They may just be checking up on you because of that.
