Re: Join The International Team

When I started on UD and even in 08 when I settled down again,
had a stable place to live (I was contracting here and there),
I had only two single core machines. I got a gaming rig,
an alienware, an I7 920 4 cores (8HT). I never looked back.
I bought my wife a computer (with crunching in mind),
now I have 4 quad cores running.
I'm going part time or I would look at a dual socket machine...
the electricity is starting to get ridiculous though... oh well...
It's for a good cause.

Re: Join The International Team

Oh, yes electricity costs are ridiculous. Here, it costs around 0.14-0.15 $US/kWh. And that's just the electricity bill with all the taxes and stuff. Then, the owners of the power grid take their share - also based on how much you consume. Vultures, all of them!

Luckily, ATM I have electricity included in my rent, but I cannot abuse it either cause then they'll just raise the rent.

At the moment I only have my main 6 core/12 Thread machine crunching 24/7 basically, but at times I also have one more (a dual core Athlon64) OC'd at 2.5GHz running now and then. Not the last few months though for various reasons.

Then of course I have a couple of servers, but for various reasons they have also been shut off lately. Hopefully I will be able to fire things up soon again!

After all as you say, it is for a very good cause! :)

Re: Join The International Team

Hello team!

Ok, so like I wrote earlier I bought a new (used) car. Well, it worked up until today as the car reported some engine problem. I quickly turned in to the saab workshop and they took a quick look and said that the Particle filter was clogged. So they activated the cleaning process on the car manually and then they said that I should drive long distances. So I did, and it went well but the car drinks a lot more diesel now...strange....i am not surprised anymore...:(

Sunday night...tomorrow main job begins again. Hopefully it will be somewhat easy to come back after the "vacation". Right... :)

At least 35000 returned results...check! ;)

Ok, back to sleep now, good night people!

Re: Join The International Team

Best of luck Flodisar on the job!

We are in a challenge that involves most results,
One of the 3 projects I'm currently crunching is
crunching for sustainable water, that really ramps up result numbers.
I was getting close to 1000 a day when I was doing it solo.
But hey it's all in fun, just thought I'd point it out.

(I had to add in a couple other projects because I'm trying
to increase the lowest run time projects to even them,
if that makes sense, worded poorly sorry)

Re: Join The International Team

Thanks Jack!

Oh yes the challenge, I was running some HCC (fairly short WUs) and hovered around 300 results/day on a single PC.
Now I am off HCC for a while and crunching CFSW, DSFL, GFAM and CEP. Hopefully we'll be able to climb a bit in the challenge!

Nighty night!
