Re: Join The International Team

I was trying Einstein,
and it was only doing 40 to 60%
plus I upped the fan speed with EVGA's precision x program
all seemed to be well,
til the next morning when the card was dead.
I didn't pay for instore replacement so I'll mail it away.
Hopefully they replace it, in the mean time I'm swapping computers around,
and will use the GTX 560, it's good enuf.
If they dont/won't replace it, I wont bother for a while.

Re: Join The International Team

Jack, it seems weird that the card could not handle some load...you should get it replaced by the dealer. Let's hope you do!

Did you by any chance check any temps on the card before you went to sleep that night? Still, weird. I had a card once whose VRAM got corrupted after some Furmark load. Luckily got it replaced. It was an old BFG card. Also, luckily it broke down before BFG disappeared.

Crunching on!

Re: Join The International Team

temps were below 70,
I had the scale for the fan going up to 100% by 70 i believe,
and I dont believe the load put me that high...
either the software failed (precision x from evga)
or the fan failed.
From now on I'm getting a dual fan card,
or if they send me a replacement I won't use it for crunching.

Re: Join The International Team

Ok, below 70 should not be any trouble. As you say, either the fan or the software failed, is likely to be the cause. If it was a reference card model, you can probably swap the cooler if you want to to a dual fan or something, but thereby voiding warranty.

I run a Sapphire HD7970 Dual-X or what they call them. However still not crunching on it (nothing here at WCG to crunch yet, except beta WUs a while ago but none of the ones I received (two or three in total) were able to start crunching). But, that day will probably come. :)

Anyway, the card is very quiet (at no load at least) and I've read that it should OC fairly well. Haven't tried that yet though due to lack of such quality time at the moment...:(

Re: Join The International Team

I hear the HDXXXX cards will crunch better anyway because of double precision or something like that, so that's what I'm considering. I have 4 computers crunching,
but 2 of them don't even have video cards in them.

Anyway 2 days til my Holidays start.
Can't wait

In Swedish, that would be spelled "Tusen tack" (thousand thanks).
"Tusan" on the other hand...is more like "heck" or "darn" biggrin

Thumbs up for a good try though! wink
