Re: Join The International Team

Jack, what kind of problems are you experiencing in installing Diablo 3? It should work no matter the CPU...

Damon, if you can, post an excerpt from the BOINC event log.
A long shot...but you could check in task manager for the BOIC process, if you right klick it and choose "CPU affinity" i believe it is called and check that you have all cores (physical and logical) checked.

Seems like we are getting many computer problems at once. Computers showing off at their best! :)

I checked and BOINC only saw 4 of the 8 cores. Rechecked and the OS sees all 8. So it has to be a restriction set by whoever installed the OS. Got fed up with the whole mess and since I'm not sure what else may have been installed (such as spyware or some monitoring program) I blew off the HD last night and installed my own copy of 7 Ultimate. BOINC immediately saw all 8 cores. applause
Should've done this Tuesday. At least I won't have to do this again for awhile. This laptop should last for quite awhile. In fact, I probably wouldn't have this one except the one I had was a POS GATEWAY! angry

Re: Join The International Team

Glad your fixed acpartsman,
My gtx 670 is killing diablo and call of duty, i turned EVERY setting i could find to max lol. I found out I'm too nice a guy. I promised a guy i play online with to send him my really old GTX 295. I didn't realize they are still selling these things on ebay etc... It has 480 cores, while my GTX 560 has 300+...
But I think the 560 is faster. Anyway I talked him into joining up with the grid when he gets some sleep so hopefully he willbe in here soon, and when GPU crunching gets going it will still be used for the cause.
he works at Taco Bell so it's not like he has money...

I'm at Einstein@home until we get some GPU work units here,
going to see what GPU computing does to Boinc Stats.
Right now I'm at like 11700 or something.

Re: Join The International Team

Damon, good to hear you got it fixed! :)
Jack, great news! You truly are a nice guy! :)

Yes, I've read that Diablo 3 should run on quite low-end gpus so I am not surprised that your gtx 670 can max it out. Hopefully I'll find the time to play D3 (loved D2), then maybe we can play together some day...

Alright, I just passed the 8 years contribution time, nice! :)
Crunching on...
