Probably not a good good idea for a smartphone, I don't think the battery would last long. I could use a client on my wii u or ps3.

There's a first "Berkeley" build for Android/ARM just out, v7.0.52, which has features such as the ability to detect the battery charge % and temperature, the pre-requisite to crunch on hand-held devices... It will know when it's on juice. Tests suggest it was not getting warm beyond the normal.
Anything outerworldly might have a rare project for WII [never read of one] and PS3 [read of a few, but SONY sabotaged that [can't give it an other qualifier] by disabling the installation of Linux on these systems... hacks around but then would that invalidate the device? It's all yours to be burned]. |

Probably not a good good idea for a smartphone, I don't think the battery would last long. I could use a client on my wii u or ps3. And yet most individuals running nativeBOINC do so while it is plugged in. My phone gets approximately 14 hours of run time each day since I leave it on the charger at work and when I'm asleep. The PS3 was being dropped by contributors long before SONY removed Linux due to the power consumption. It got to the point where PC's were cheaper to run for more results. However, there are still a few projects out there that support it for those who haven't given up on them. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

No offense, but what does the PS3 or PS4 have to do with running on smart phones?

...what does the PS3 or PS4 have to do with running on smart phones? The AIO (all-in-one-device) model versus the SMD (specialised-multiple-devices) model. In the SMD model: the PS3/PS4 processors will do the actual crunching of the WUs while the smartphone handles the BOINC communication needs for those WUs.; ; andzgridPost#975 ; |

Either way, this thread is about running on smart phones. Not other devices. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Coleslaw at Mar 1, 2013 7:59:57 PM] |
