At what price? Doubt most could afford a 50 core Xeon seeing what the 8 cores are priced at now. Got to win the lottery to get these beasts.

At what price? Doubt most could afford a 50 core Xeon seeing what the 8 cores are priced at now. Got to win the lottery to get these beasts. My guess is between $1500-$2000.00 and I bet closer to the latter.. 8GB of DDR5 on that card.. My questions are heat and electrical draw and will it work with BOINC.. If it will I will get one by hook or crook, maybe 2... To me it's all about output vs electrical draw, initial price plays a part but not that much..Cost is once, elec is every day. That's what I like about this dualie 2011. Output at 3400MHz is 3.5 times what my 2600K does at 4332MHz but with less than twice the electrical draw. ![]() |

I just read the article on Engadget. Didn't realize it was a GPU type device to plug into a PCI slot. Think your right about price. Don't think it's oriented towards consumers though. Might need a mini nuclear plant to run it though.

And if it takes a lot of juice to run it, you will need a whale of a cooler to keep the temperature down.
