This is such a great endeavor! It looks as if the question re crunching is whether BOINC and its apps can be compiled for ARMv6 architecture.

Microsoft closes 2011 with an emergency Windows Update

Microsoft has issued a rare out-of-band update to plug a vulnerability in the .NET Framwork. The bulletin (MS11-100) comes several weeks before the next regularly scheduled Patch Tuesday in mid-January and addresses a flaw that could allow attackers to exploit hash tables to perform a denial-of-service (DoS) attack against a website built with Microsoft's ASP.NET application framework.
Usually, DoS attacks require thousands of computers (often malware-controlled systems in a botnet) to overwhelm a site with requests. However, this opening would allow an attacker to cripple a vulnerable site by sending a certain type of HTTP request. Each request sent would consume 100% of one CPU core. Sending several of such requests could easily devour all of a server's processing resources.....

Ivy Bridge-based Xeons a possibility from Intel in the spring

The Xeon E5 launch earlier this year from chipmaker Intel could be possibly matched by a plethora of Ivy Bridge-based models soon to be released after, based on a tentative processor roadmap. After releasing 18 E5 chips based on the current Sandy Bridge architecture, Intel may be slated to have 11 Xeons arrive in the spring based on the new 2012 design, claimed Digitimes. Billed as Ivy Bridge-H2, these would include “Xeon E3 chips like the E3-1290v2 in bulk costs of $189 to $884, as well as E5s from $192 to $1,440, one of which would be the E5-2470″, according to Electronista..

Microsoft celebrates IE6 death as Google downranks Chrome
Microsoft has celebrated the imminent demise of version 6 of its Internet Explorer browser by baking a cake

The software giant held the light-hearted celebration as it revealed that the program was used by less than 1% of US internet surfers.
It is keen to kill off the old version of the browser and persuade users to move to IE8 or 9.
Meanwhile rival Google has been forced into an embarrassing climbdown on the promotion of its Chrome browser.............
