Fake Certificates Reveal Flaws in the Internet’s Security
A major breach at a Dutch purveyor of digital certificates has caused some security experts to question the infrastructure that underpins the security of the Internet. The breach allowed unknown attackers to issue at least 531 fraudulent certificates for major domains, including Google.com, Microsoft.com, and Yahoo.com. The certificates verify a website as genuine to a visitor’s Web browser; that verification prevents an attacker from using a forged domain address to steal data. The certificates contain encrypted data that lets browsers and other software confirm that a website is legitimate. An attacker can use the digital certificates to pose as a secure website, such as Google’s Gmail, and intercept communications, or bypass security mechanisms and install malicious software. About 650 companies, known as certificate authorities, or CAs, are trusted to issue the certificates. What is unusual here is not that a certificate authority was compromised, but that someone noticed,” says Moxie Marlinspike, chief technology officer and cofounder of Whisper Systems, a firm focusing on securing mobile communications. “This is happening all the time.” |

And this is for some around here who don´t work an spend the whole day in this forums , not going to name them
, Is not my case as I ran my own Company ![]() Letter From Paris: 28 Days (Without the Internet) When I think of the flap copy for the book I'm about to go off to write, these are the first words that come to my mind: "If Elizabeth Gilbert had sought solace from Internet addiction instead of from a crushing divorce, this is the book she might've written. Beth Arnold's '28 Days (Without the Internet)' makes us laugh and cry in equal measure, and not just for Arnold but for ourselves. Arnold's compelling personal chronicle -- of her own slippery slide into virtual life and her courageous effort to escape and regain the wholeness of her humanity -- is the book that all frazzled, fragmented 21st-century technoslaves have been waiting for. Even if they don't know it yet." hehehheee |

I'll be interested to hear how the AMD 3400m does with crunching. I believe that's a Llano chip, right? -- quadcore CPU with the GPU on the same chip? It should be a really nice all-around machine for the money and the power consumption. Hello Kateiacy, yes it's seems to be a very quick and affordable combination (processor rates 6.5 on the windows experience index). As far as crunching goes it does four units at a time obviously, and seem to run through them at alot quicker than my older Athalon ll does. Hard to tell for sure as the work units time are all over the map from 2 to 13 hrs. [Edit 2 times, last edit by okmrbh at Sep 19, 2011 5:56:25 PM] |
