Re: Birdwatchers from the World United

I saw this Barred Owl when I went for a walk this evening.

My son took the picture. We are both learning how to be better nature photographers so any suggestions are always welcome.

Re: Birdwatchers from the World United

Not heard of this one before, but saw a brief news item how a small bird that disappeared around 1979 from the Netherlands started returning around 2006 and now 300 territories have been identified in the South West [province of Zeeland].

Called the Cetti Wabler, it appears to have started to colonize the UK from the south along the coast lines since first being seen there in 1973. Some info for birdwatchers at http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/birdguide/name/c/cettiswarbler/index.aspx

A lot of birds are making a come-back since DDT has been ban in most countries and suspect this is one example.

Re: Birdwatchers from the World United

Going to Cape May for a birding expedition next week. I can hardly wait!!!!
edit: Yes, birding is my passion after grid computing. My job, Symantec Endpoint Protection, building images for new Lenovo hardware and making packages for Novell ZenWorks is my last passion. You now can see my priorities. wink

Re: Birdwatchers from the World United

Here under two pictures:

This one is my first digital picture of birds taken in 1999 with the Olympus C2500L my first digital photo camera. It was a reflex with 2.5MP but with fixed lense. It had an excellent visor and good optics.
I never went back to photo films.

This one is a picture taken with the same camera in 2001 in a natural reserve in the Dominican Republic. Again with the same Olympus camera. In 2003 the sensor died. A good four years of loyal services and in all conditions. After that I switched to Nikon D7.

Re: Birdwatchers from the World United

Our bluebird box is finally inhabited. They've been scouting since late-March.
So far, she's laid 3 eggs.

It's tough taking shots by sticking the camera into the box, but here are the eggs:
