Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

price gouging in Europe for stranded travelers...and that has nothing to do with taxes, it's the silicate ash from glacier induced volcanoes

Hotels in London tripling rates, and the train fares are going up

http://rickseaney.com/2010/04/19/good-guysbad...engers-and-price-gouging/

On the other hand, some hotels in America are giving DISCOUNTS to stuck European travelers, and free admission tickets for parks and entertainment.
Churches are also taking them in for free shelter.

I saw a reverse story about shelter given to grounded 9/11 flights ... in St. Johns, Nova Scotia, Canada

There is less and less cherrypicking of that type as time goes on now. Notice this activity from a few days ago.

The sunspots have an unhealthy issue for anything alive on Earth. During the sunspot periods there's more UV emitted... as we homo sapiens sapiens have damaged the ozone layer... you may count it out on your fingers what happens. The ozone layer recovery is stagnating. The fridge CFC replacements have been building up and turned out in their larger quantities to be as damaging. This is though interesting... fridges that cool through sound waves... 16 year old technology that never made it: http://ehp.niehs.nih.gov/docs/1994/102-9/innovations.html

Incidentally as a kid all fridges used to contain just NH3 (Ammonia) and ran on natural gas

No compressors and no CFC's. No noise apart from the dripping ammonia contained in the tubing at the back

Pure convenience with the ability to plug the device in brought about CFC's

Instead of connecting to the Gas supply

(The same convenience is applied to Tumble Dryers)

+ you could get a nasty burn from the flue on the top of the fridge !

Plastic wrap is to keep shoppers from eating the food in the store without paying for it ... so a little plastic film is cheaper for them.

The man who love to pack iron-y in his posts. Heard of the From Rain into Drip principle, DA? So we take ammonia out because it's bad for our health at VERY LOW ppm, and we replace it with CFC's and indirectly cause worse, not just for the one in the room sitting on the fridge, but for the globe... that's is being used in a sustainable way by 6.8 billion of you know what.

Think I prefer a half empty glass over a half full that's tainted. Half empty, for those may have realized and learned not to usurp the rest mindlessly.

Abstract

Time series models of global climate change tend to estimate a low climate-sensitivity (equilibrium effect on global temperature of doubling carbon dioxide concentrations) and a fast adjustment rate to equilibrium. These results may be biased by omission of a key variable—heat stored in the ocean. A time series model of the atmosphere–ocean climate system is developed, in which surface temperature (atmospheric temperature over land and sea surface temperature) moves towards a long-run equilibrium with both radiative forcing and ocean heat content, while ocean heat content accumulates the deviations from atmospheric equilibrium. This model is closely related to Granger and Lee's multicointegration model. As there are only 55 years of observations on ocean heat content, the Kalman filter is used to estimate heat content as a latent state variable, which is constrained by the available observations. This method could be applied to other climate change problems where there are only limited observations on key variables. The final model adopted relates surface temperature to the heat content of the upper 300 m of the ocean. The resulting parameter estimates are closer to theoretically expected values than those of previous time series models and the estimated climate sensitivity to a doubling of carbon dioxide is 4.4 K.

Keywords: Global climate change; Time series analysis; Multicointegration; Kalman filter

Watch out as the current El Niño holds firm... 4.4 Celcius+, more than twice the amount the IPCC was willing the let in, politically constraint for the whole Inconvenient Truth would have put more pressure on boundless growth.
