Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Any one up for a sweepstake on GISS Temp for Jan 2010?

They normally peg themselves just a couple of Hundredth's higher than NCDC but that's already been outdone by UAH

I'm thinking what with the latest news maybe they might rein it in a bit

I'm going to plump for a straight 0.70C Anomaly for GISS ranked 1 in 131

Any other offers?

wink

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Could I revise my offer to 0.70C 3/131 ?

2002 and 2007 would be "warmer"

Maybe some encores on this... right up the Ain't true-ist alley:

The Gaping Hole in Greenhouse Theory

This guy eats meat with a fork only, yet holds his pinky up as if eating peas with the tool held inverted, the English way.

I have read some extremist stuff Sek but I choose my sources very carefully. No point in sponsoring rabid extremist loons.

Although I do think we may have been collectively hoodwinked into doing just that

applause Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Unfortunately, the Old man in a cave has not posted for longer on his views from higher elevation... he must be content to be save. Me too... even if it takes biblical proportions, my garden will still be, I hope, produce enough orti frutti to maintain a few of the species homo sapiens sapiens, successor of homo erectus... but it will be complete vegan and not sure though those beans will grow here. They tried to grow them in Africa, but it was found to be too hot, water not an issue, still.

BTB, 6C, what is potentially possible, is how much my computer gets hotter when running PrimeGrid on all cores. Then TThrottle kicks in.

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

You see Sek that was where they lost me

I'm onside with the environmental stuff but one day I opened a newspaper and there it was the "6 degrees of change" and the consequences with people being incinerated in the street by huge clouds of erupting methane from the sea

This is extrapolation gone mad. Now if that's your bag that's fine with me

But I'm sorry I can see what is happening in the name of Global Warming and I have to disagree that this is anything like the potential for our change in a very small percentage of our atmospheric gasses.

Now I am sure I will be hit over the head again with the "Forcing Graph" which means nothing as our Climate is interdependent and more complex than any simple graph could possibly attempt to describe

I do not deny that CO2 is one of our essential so called Green House gasses but let's not over egg the pudding

Let's put it this way this time last week no scientist was standing up and declaring from his heart of hearts that there had been no statistically significant warming during the last 15 years were they?

Regards

Dave

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/tabledata/GLB.Ts+dSST.txt

Cor I was close!!! just 1 hundredth out sheessh

0.71C anomaly which makes January 2010 the joint second warmest January in the 132 year record

Of course it was LOL

Thinking about it 0.7 dead would probably have appeared a bit more suspicious wink

I'll try to improve my GISS forecasting skills going forward

John Kettley would be proud biggrin

That's made my day

Night
