Oh man... that sucks. Listening to everyone else talking about Sapphire and Emerald makes me laugh. I only needed 21 hrs to go Gold on Influenza.

I have reached Sapphire and am returning a number of work units for those who need them. Good luck.

Oh man... that sucks. Listening to everyone else talking about Sapphire and Emerald makes me laugh. I only needed 21 hrs to go Gold on Influenza. Hopefully, you'll be able to pick up at least 4 more WU's from those generous to return work/WU's that are too late etc. I too are rather envious of these "medium/large" crunchers - as I only scraped Gold in this project as well. FYI, if you don't strike lucky, this project will be going "intermittent", so there may be another opportunity for you to go Gold... ![]() |

I have reached Sapphire and am returning a number of work units for those who need them. Good luck. Shebear Set small "additional buffer" such as under 0.5 days, select only FLU1 and "If there is no work...". Then every time work is requested your client checks FLU first. There's going to be repair/makeup work for at least the next 7-10 days, sparse it may be, so stay connected. Good luck Edit: This is why you want to hang in... just generated 2 repair jobs extra for inconclusive work: flu10901m0714_ 100195_ 0-- 849476 Inconclusive 9/28/09 12:04:46 10/5/09 09:36:00 6.22 97.3 / 0.0 flu10901m0714_ 100099_ 0-- 849476 Inconclusive 9/28/09 12:04:46 10/5/09 09:36:00 6.37 99.6 / 0.0

Well I hope you guys are right about extra work units. I missed going Silver on the Dengue project by less than 2 days and have never seen another unit even though it has gone "intermittent".
----------------------------------------Oh well, from now on I'll dedicate all my resources to any new project until I get gold as before I have spread my projects out. ![]() |

Sometime tomorrow I should reach sapphire and I'll be returning any extra work units. It could be anywhere from 8-20 days worth.
I'm also seeing an occasional "inconclusive" on returned work units, so you could get some of those too. Good luck on getting to gold. One strategy I've used to request work more often is to set my queue to 1 day using work from an active project (Rice for example). After I get a day's worth of work I then switch projects to the one I want to get work for (flu) and uncheck "If there is no work". Then I set my queue size to 1.5-2 days. While the computer is crunching the 1 day worth of data it is asking for new work more often than it normally would so you have a little better chance of getting flu work units. This does require a bit more work to ensure you don't run out of work, but you would only have to do it until you got your 21 hours of flu work units. |

Thanks for the ideas, I am hoping I manage to pick up just a few units so that I can get to gold.
----------------------------------------It's funny I never used to worry about it, but since the higher levels have been released I feel that I have to get to GOLD. Maybe in another year I'll feel the same way about Ruby. ![]() |

I just got Sapphire and returned 111 work units. Hopefully you'll get some of them.

when you talk of "returning" work units..are you just aborting them on your system once you get the badge? It's looking like I'll have enough to make emerald. Once I've got that confirmed, I might have a couple of extra work units that I wouldn't mind returning for those that are close.

Yep you just abort them. Make sure you have other work units lined up though, because aborting causes the server to limit the amount of workunits it will send you until you return a couple valid ones.
