I just got a flu10901p0897 WU, so we are very very close to the end of getting new WU's
----------------------------------------flu0901x0902 is the last batch. I assume the new work sending out will run out within 3 hours :-)

I assume the new work sending out will run out within 3 hours :-) 60-90 minutes - then we will see uplinger on CNN with the breaking news headline: No more flu-wu'. Maybe the researchers will put some information in the media about it later? The fact that a part of a research is almost completed might not be so interesting for media like CNN.  But it would be nice to hear something about it, I agree. I just got some some flu10901p0899 WU's, so the last 2-3 batches are going out now...

It will probably slowly trickle out. Sure there will be aborted, too late and other WU's slowly being completed.

I have 12 WUs due to finish over the next hour, so I'm guessing I'll be seeing notification that the 902 are all distributed soon

It's maybe because your queue is larger than the deadline, telling the servers: "Hallo, I want some, but cant get it back in time". It's severely guessing how the rest of your settings are and at this stage of the project on no value. It's probably done as we type, only repair/no reply work left to bandy around.
