You should not worry about any inconclusive or PV if the client been delivering 100% valid results. Add those in to the last stats update and you know how much more need to be done. Then simply suspend the excess buffer till you got confirmation, if you need confirmation, then abort, if you want to abort. Suspending will stop work fetch at that automatically.
----------------------------------------This was for ruby, returning 20 even before I got there: 180:11:28:31 adds a bit of HBP ;>) edit: Working now on a 4th red and second blue simultaneously. Does not matter as these projects are scheduled to go well into 2011. When that's done adding a 3rd to the mix to crawl to the next step. edit2: There is a Thursday return spike looking at 29,000 result validation... suspect who might have done a mass project switch ;)

Sekerob, as I know you already know, the challenge of having a big queue (such as I currently have in order to get my next 15 days' worth), is that the estimates within BOINC can vary so much - even with this project.
----------------------------------------So, at the moment, it won't fetch any more work with a setting of 7.5 days' - yet, by my own calculations, "in theory" I need a few more WU's. I'll perform another sanity check at 80 & 85 CPU days', and also, if Uplinger keeps us all informed (as he has been doing), then, if need be, I'll grab a few extra WU's for insurance purposes. What's for sure, is that it certainly keeps my interest level high in WCG :-) |

What's for sure, is that it certainly keeps my interest level high in WCG :-) It certianly does. I'm watching the batch send rate closely since I need about 12 days to get Sapphire. I've already put my buffers to 8 days, so I should be ok unless the rate goes over 90 batches/day. I wonder if we're seeing a minor panic rush to get work units. People see there's only a few days left so they bump up their buffers to get more, which makes it look like the project is ending sooner, so more people bump up their buffer - in an endless cycle until "no work available" kicks in. Either that or MrKermit has joined the project As Uplinger noted the projects tend to slow down at the end as the badge hunters get enough work units for a badge and then switch projects. I'll probably be switching to Rice on the 29th. Let's hope there's still work units available until then... |

I caculate that I need about 12.7 days to get Sapphire, It is a estimate I base on the average completed the last few days. I have been increasing my buffer each day by 1 day so as to not suck up too many at once and to not have too many come due at the same time. I did see several of my system get the no work message over night but it was just for an hour or so. I think I will come up short and will be relying on some make up work before the dust settles.

The project is share limited. As the daily overall grid production undulates, so will the number of work units for FLU do that are allowed to be hoofered up... the grid has been buoyant so probably a little bit more are going out. We'll see tomorrow morning in 29,000 is the number or there just having been a morning burst of validation.

For the last 24 hours my batch numbers have gone up by 68 so it looks like we did have a spike yesterday. I'm also not seeing any "no work available" messages in the last 24 hours.
----------------------------------------As Sekerob noted, maybe we did have some batches with short work units or maybe more people with faster computers are jumping on the project. Either way I should make Sapphire as long as we have new work until the 29th. Based on the latest numbers I'm "guestimating" that we will have new work until at least Sept 30. Edit: According to Uplinger's time left estimate 3 days ago, we should still have 7 days left, which would be around Oct 2nd. Maybe he could start the final week count down [Edit 1 times, last edit by smeyer55 at Sep 25, 2009 12:50:51 PM] |

Hi Uplinger:
----------------------------------------Could you please, if possible, let us know what the probable final batch name / batch number to be loaded and distributed (batch number...) for IADS ? I guess that it will be useful for many crunchers (include me) that are following the end of this project. Additionally, could you please coment about what the last estimates show for new work remaining ? Thank you in advance.
Cheers ! GIB@

GIBA,
Uplinger has mentioned there are 902 batches in each project. The batch numbers are the number after the flu10901. So when you see flu10901x0902_xxxxxx_0 then you know we should be about done. Currently we are in the mid 600 batch numbers and we are progressing at about 50-70 batches per day. Today you should see work unit numbers of flu10901x0640_000398_0 for example. The 640 is the batch number. Hope this helps. Steve |

My apologies, I don't saw this Uplinger's post about 902 batches per project...
----------------------------------------So, it means that we have yet around at least around 4 days (at 70 batches per day of distribution speed), maybe few days more... great.
Cheers ! GIB@
