Somebody else who knows how to cut and paste!
In the future, please try to include the attribution, too. Kennedy has held his Senate seat for more than forty years, but considering his longevity, his accomplishments seem scant. He authored or argued for legislation that ensured a variety of civil rights, increased the minimum wage in 1981, made access to health care easier for the indigent, and funded Meals on Wheels for fixed-income seniors and is widely held as the "standard-bearer for liberalism". In his very first Senate roll[sic], he was the floor manager for the bill that turned U.S. immigration policy upside down and opened the floodgate for immigrants from third world countries. Since that time, he has been the prime instigator and author of every expansion of and increase in immigration, up to and including the latest attempt to grant amnesty to illegal aliens. Sounds like great accomplishments to me. Maybe his past follies helped him concentrate on the things that matter? |

a hero -- how quickly the American public forgets what the real legacy is -- Let us remember what the real legacy is: Better health care, Civil Rights for the poor and the non-whites, laws to protect the working people, especially in factories and construction. Was Ted Kennedy a saint; of course not, but he has done more for the people of America than any other Senator in history. He did not just sit back and help his cronies, but worked for and cared about the people who needed his help the most. He also turned around his life to be a better person. AND he did all of this after shouldering the responsibility for caring for the entire extended family though many family tragedies including the public murder of his two brothers. |
